Hey all. Just wondering if there are going to be any other Nissan 240's in the area (besides Calgary) that are running an Sr20DET in their car. Don't let me be the only one http://asianet.ca/images/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

If so, let me know some stats and the gear on the car.

I think there is supposed to be a burgandy one with a veilside kit... pretty cocky guy.

I'll have to smoke him sooner or later http://asianet.ca/images/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Are you the white DET from the show?...

SRBURG13
July 13th, 2002, 12:44 PM
Nah, that white DET was an S14 right? Then if so, he is from Calgary. No, I have a Red S13. If you were at Powerama, you might have seen it there. Burgandy one hey?? Yeah, I don't think it will be problem after I'm done. Unless of course he has some crazy sh*t done.

BlueTurbo, what exactly do you drive?? I have an idea, but I'm not sure if this is the right guy.

Take care.

I haven't been to the Powerama show because I was busy working on the car...

I drive a Blue NX2000 with a bit of work http://asianet.ca/images/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

The visual cues that give my game away is the Apex-i Intercooler jammed in the front of the car and the 4 exhaust tips out the back.

Or course that never stopped Johnny Rice boy before...

So what about a quick run down on your car?...

ps. you should be on the SE-R canadian mailing list http://asianet.ca/images/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Thank you for the compliments http://asianet.ca/images/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

No I don't have a DET in there, when I started, turbo kits were still in the very young stage and I've changed my configuration many times since. I have a reworked bottom end from a G20 because I overheated my old one and spun two bearings on it. A ported and polished stock NX SR head with a 3 angle valve grind and an Apex-i metal head gasket.

I really want a DET, but I've already put so much work into the SR motor, why give it up and start again? http://asianet.ca/images/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

If you need some help I can try to help you http://asianet.ca/images/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

Peace from Germany.

Which reminds me, I just happen to have a set of 300ZX brakes... Calipers, pads, and rotors all sitting in my garage...

I was planning on using them on my NX but I can't get them around the steering knuckle so it's back to the drawing baord for me.

I really need bigger brakes, if you want to buy them lemme know.

SRBURG13

Set of brakes hey? Off of a Z32? Inlcuding the brake lines? If so, how much do you want for them? Front 2, or all 4?

This is what i got:

Unfortunately I have no brake lines...

They are complete with pads.

I paid $750 for the set http://asianet.ca/images/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif

I got gyped by Hondatoy, but I wanted them... now I can't use them http://asianet.ca/images/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

But since i never used them make an offer, I have a friend coming up from Vancouver on Monday and he has a G20, apparently, these will bolt right on the G... I think he's interested, but I'll be sure to let you know.

guess i stand corrected.

what year are your calipers andy? are they from a turbo or non-turbo one?

oh... it was the wheelstuds thing that scared me.

SRBURG13: how is the engine swap coming along?

SRBURG13
August 3rd, 2002, 12:26 AM
Its coming along so far so good. There was a few clitches so far, like the turbo came siezed, but I got another one on there now, and the clutch also came all rusted to the fly wheel. So the fly wheel got machined, and a new clutch coming. Otherwise its doing alright, engine is now sittin in the car and the intercooler piping is being done. They figure that the day of completion is approximately 1 week and a couple of days. Would have been done, but that damn siezed turbo delayed the project like a week. So hopefully it will be all good from now on in. Man the wallet is sore!

were they able to fire up the motor for you? all your electronics and wiring in order?
which shop are you having it done at by the way?

ha-ha "the wallet is sore!"
how much have you spent so far on this?

hope it's all that you expect and more.

Hmm, I don't remember what year they are speficifically, but it was from a turbo Z...

I really wish I could get these to fit :(

My next options are KVR 12" front upgrade with Willwood 4 piston Calipers and lines for $1200can :(

Combine that with a 96 Altima Master Cylinder and rear brakes and how many more $$$ to get it all working together, THEN I'd have a powerful braking system.

No they haven't been able to fire up the engine for me yet. They tell me the full wiring harness is there and intact, just a couple of other wiring jobbies to do. I'm gettin it done at Sumaru's Auto. They specialize in Nissan's. They started the "Z-Club" (Not the Zeller's one).

Yes, the wallet is very sore. Let's just say that it is costing between $6,000 and $15,000. Is that narrow enough of a cost?? Hehe.

Yeah I'm pretty pumped about this project, hopefully it will turn out for the best. They figure some outputs of between 270 and 300hp with full boost. I figure more. But I guess we'll see when it is done. Straight to the dyno machine.

You know Reg?! :) Haha, I've known him for years, I bought a few parts from him already, but he didn't want to get near my car at the time he was only interested in Z's.

I'm surprised he's taken on your project, guess he wants some more exposure.

Is Reg still doing the all Nissan shows in October/September?.

I haven't been there for awhile ever since I got a job downtown...

Guess I should pop by and check it out huh? :)

SRBURG13
August 8th, 2002, 02:34 PM
Yeah I know Reg and Neil pretty good. I guess they didn't have a problem doing my car, cause when I walked in there asking, they didn't seem to hesitate too much.

After the car is done, you should meet me down there for a rip with all the other Nissan boys. I'm tryin to convince them to bring a few cars to the event on the 24th in Red Deer. We'll see.

Progress on the car is coming smoothly. Except the part of waiting for the endtanks for the intercooler, and the ignition modulator (however that thing is called), and then we should be ready to fire the thing up and work out some bugs. Hopefully everything goes smoothly.

Take er easy.

He's VERY good at what he does too :)

Umm, yeah not so smooth anymore. I receive all my parts, and it turned out that the ECU that they sent me was for the wrong year, and I think even the make of the car. BRUTAL!!! So maybe next weekend. We'll see. Although the front mounted intercooler is lookin pretty sharp, it fills the whole front air damn. I'm eatin that shit up.

September 18th, 2002, 07:34 PM
FINALLY, I found practically the last stock ECU in North America. They had one left at a place called "www.phase2motortrend.com", killer place. Anyhow, they shipped it out and it should be here on Thursday afternoon, unless the customs give it a hard time, which they are so far. Frontmounted intercooler is all piped up and ready for flow, just waiting on the ECU to land and fire up the car. So, if all else goes well, I'll be there on Sunday for sure, and if it goes real well, maybe race.

Oh K, here's the list: Don't get too excited its not that good.

Redtop SR20DET
Stock T25 turbo
Apexi Silvia Front Mounted Intercooler
Custom piping
Apexi Endtanks
Apexi N1 3" Turbo exhaust
3" downpipe
Blitz Dual SBC Boost Controller
TurboSmart SS Blow off valve (the biggest friggin thing I've ever seen)
Lightened Flywheel
new clutch
'89 240sx MAF
Body colored the valve cover, block silver, piping silver.......etc

ACE Spade 17" wheels with 40series ZR rubber
B&G Springs
new struts
spoiler (nice and clean)
clear indicators
stereo all done
front and rear strut bars
Alarm

Future plans are as of yet unknown.....many ideas though.

Hope to see you all on Sunday :fingersx: if the thing gets started and there are no more problems. Feel free to say hello. The car is red by the way.

I sure as well hope that they can spend the time to get it running properly. :fingersx: No faith in Sumaru's?? Hehe. I'm not a tuning pro, so I have no idea what it will take.

As far as numbers go, I have no idea. So they tell me approx 300hp (not to the wheels) and possible low 13's. Who knows, it could be anything. I'll grab a G-Tech to get some "approximate" numbers.

Yeah it is running better than the old engine. Hella fast now. Too much torque though, I keep on undoing the bolts all over the place.

Yeah, much better I'd say. How about we ask that Five liter from Friday night?? Hehe.

Well, the next problems have arrived. First, I separated my manifold from the turbo, so that wasn't so good. They had to remove the turbo and drill out the bolt and re-tap it. Man that sucks.

Next, while testing with the G-tech, we broke the clutch, literally. We pulled off the tranny, and the clutch broke into peices. Fuck, now I have to get another. This sucks.

Thought that I would update you.
