Hey All,

So often, when I'm driving, or out somewhere, I have often seen things I wanted to post up, but didn't want to clutter up the Spotted thread.

With that in mind, I figured it would be cool to post pictures of all the crazy, funny, or just strange things you notice around the city. In the past weeks, with all the snow, there has been no shortage of great pictures.

Anyway, I'll get it started with these 2 I captured while walking my dog yesterday:

First, a muffler sitting in a snowbank, in a residential neighborhood.
http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/2822/img0548xn.jpg

And, a true testament to how much snow has fallen, a buried 180 across the street from my g/f's house - I thought it was just a giant snow pile until my dog tried to climb it, and uncovered a spoiler
http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/965/img0547z.jpg

So, c'mon folks, let see the crazy pictures!

i hope the owner knows that...

there was a car buried in that much snow in my neighborhood and he got a ticket haha.. guess the guy didnt see the orange ticket on his window and the snow completely covered his car...

he got the car removed a few hours before the big Caterpillar's came rolling through.. would have been funny to see then rip the shit out of his car

Should have taken a pic but last week I was filming some snowboarding at this street spot with some guys from out of town. We were downtown hitting this ledge. Anyways after my first hit on it I rode down and stalled on this big bank of snow. Next time I did it I stopped dead looked down and it was a Geo Metro... Wtf

The Silverberry Save On is not laid out like that. The front of Save On faces the front of Subway. There are no parking stalls that are transverse in front of Save On to the front of Subway like pictured above.

Funny enough that this came up though, because here is something that made me LOL at the Silverberry Save On just lastnight,

From what I've heard (and I don't know how accurate this information is) when an ETS bus is involved in a collision, whether it's the drivers fault or not, their employment is terminated.

Izerous
January 26th, 2011, 10:59 AM
Not true about immediate termination at least for not at fault accidents. Was on an ETS bus and it got rear ended. Still had that driver for months to come.

That is awfully close to where I drive too...

And damn that Outlander had to get hit from the front I could have used the front bumper and hood if it were to end up in pick-n-pull or somewhere else. Cheaper to buy parts in the correct color.

AudiInProgress
January 26th, 2011, 11:14 AM

But I know I've had employment terminated for a no-fault vehicle collision. So anything is possible.

It was driven into the shop from the accident scene like this!

The longer the distance between the pivot (hitch) and the wheels of the trailer the easier it is to keep straight when backing up. Also, the fact that the beam of the trailer is longer than the distance from the hitch to the side of the car would allow you to jack-knife sharply when maneuvering in tight spaces.

I built a trailer with similar characteristics for my own use. That being said, my trailer was Wider, the tongue wasn't as long, and I have a tool box mounted in front of the bed of the trailer. The end result on my trailer is that I can jack-knife it almost completely sideways if necessary and the toolbox clears the side by about 6 inches.

This trailer is ridiculous.

CPTN AWSOME

So the trailer is stupid? Like I said I'm not very educated in towing but I thought this looked like it was a stupid idea

Gargoyle25
February 1st, 2011, 10:49 AM
to clear your bumper when jack knife-ing you'd need a space about half the width of your towing vehicles rear end, so about the same for any vehicle, so having an 8 foot tow arm is beyond stupid (unless the towing vehicle is 16 feet wide)

that's my take anyway

I have a home made 6X8 trailer, and the tongue is like 3ft long, it is a pain in the ass to back up, have to make a 4 point turn to back into a driveway, because if you get any more than a slight turn while backing up, it starts to jacknife then you have to pull forward a bit to straighten it out, and repeat.

I dont have any pics, but I saw a Dodge Ram Charger with huge mudder tires blocking the outside lane of 97 Street, his front right tire was in the snow, and he was sideways, and obviously stuck, with 3 wheels on the pavement .

Sorry, I meant to point that out in my post but forgot to. My point was that I made my trailer tongue long, but only long enough that the hard mounted tool box cleared the rear bumper by about 6 inches, so I have about 4.5 feet of tongue in front of my tool box.

The long tongue helps with this as well.

yes! i can contribute! crazy and stupid at the same time....

here's a quick story...

the owners of that house (corner house) tend to piss off a lot of ppl on the block.. they yell and scream when you park on the road in front of their house all year... like when my dad parked his Pilot on the corner when there is no parking in front of our house.. they come out yelling and screaming..
then in the winter time, they shovel all their snow and large chunks of ice onto the road.. (should call bylaw for that one) and expect it to be picked up the next day...

well now this.. snow plow coming through our area and decides to clean off the middle section of the road.. good! but this tool decides he wants to get in.. and parks his vehicle.. not on the main street where everyone is parked.. but right in front of his house... while the plows come through for the second pass.. i stood and watched as the Plow truck driver shakes his head in disgust...

oh on to the picture.. haha

What an idiot. So many assholes out there.

The guy that lives across from me always leaves notes on my door, unsigned, asking for my sidewalks to be shoveled ASAP (I have the corner lot in a small sub-division, which means I have about 100 meters of sidewalk bordering my property). These will appear the same day it snows, before I even get home from work...

A few weeks back, he had his son/friend/whatever come and clear the entire area with a skidsteer, but piled it all on my front yard, into a humoungous pile, easily 10 feet high.

I called Bylaw and reported it, since he is always such a cowardly asshole -

Thy came out, asked a few people how it happeed, then gave him a ticket for unlawful snow removal (not carried out by a registered strathcona county contractor) and made them bring the equipment back, and move all the snow off my lawn.

^^ nicely done man!..

the skidsteer came by and he had to move..

I osrt of have the opposite, my neighbor is 80 years old, and he has a front driveway with a car port besides his house. I try to shovel his sidewalk off for him, but he must get up at 3AM. One night it was snowing, I cleaned off our sidewalk, and his at 10PM. In the morning at 5AM, I went back out to shovel before I left for work, there was about 1" on the deck that fell overnight, I get to the sidewalk, and it has been cleared by our neighbor, he had his 50' long driveway, and both his and our sidewalk shoveled, and swept clean of all snow at 5AM and he had gone inside already. I feel bad for him having to shovel that much, but ontop of that he does ours too, but he does the sidewalks while I am sleeping or at work, so I am not around to help him.

When we first moved in, he was out shoveling, and it took him over an hour to do his driveway (I was hauling loads from the other house, my Fiance was shoveling our sidewalk out at the time).

when i say tool i mean it by this, do not park your vehicle on the road when HUGE snow plows are working.. it pisses them off and makes our street look like a fucking disaster.. now i have to squeeze 2 cars onto my driveway, leaving my integra hanging on the sidewalk...

Two things I noticed with this broken down car.
1. The front left suspension seems to have collapsed. The front right wheel is pointing straight, the left is obviously not, and the ride height is way lower on the broken side.

One reason I'll never buy a German car is those stupid jacks you have to pull a cover off of and stick in through the side. I can't tell if it's like that on the BMW but my mom's Benz is like that...

But the MAIN reason is they use friggin' lug BOLTS. You almost need a second hand in most cases. Using one arm to lift the heavy ass tire in place while keeping the holes aligned and the other to thread everything in.

Why can't they just friggin use studs!?

This reminds me of an accident I saw on tuesday, did anybody see that semi that was headed westbound between 50St and 66St that was pulled over, with the police car behind it? I thought it was odd, untill I noticed a ford or chev diesel truck up on the snowbank next to the semi, looks like the semi merged over and pushed the truck onto the bank, funny how the truck was still beside the semi  I would have thought the truck would have stopped alot faster than the semi being on a snow wall.

Drove into a parking lot to do some rubber necking, and noticed the car was in a snow bank. Watched the cops pull the guy out, cuff him while he resisted, and slam him onto the hood of the car. There were 6 cops I believe. The guy was either drunk or cracked out. Once they stood him back up I couldnt tell if he was trying to pull away or was puking as they questioned him, but I did see a cop with his foot behind the guys knee pushing as he squirmed around so I'm guessing he was just being a drunken fool.

Remember the scene in 2 fast 2 furious where that black guy is crossing the street and almost gets smoked by the cars and waves his hands in the air? Saw that in real life with a black dude crossing a freeway in LA last week he almost got creamed by a dodge ram. Waved his arms an everything.

In arizona there was a crazy windstorm and saw a 6 foot tall tumbleweed attack a car behind me, a canopy blow off a truck. And the wind rip a bolt off our hood. Also so a huge desert fire...

In Vegas saw two fat chicks making out. And two hot bimbos making out to get into a bottle service area.. Hot chicks got in..

not to disappoint you all but that truck is no queen.....it isn't in storage,it does get driven and it does get dirty.....i obviuosly am not going to thrash the crap out of it as it is worth a small chunk of change.i realize that there are alot of trailer queens out there...this isn't one of them...it's just a nice clean truck. technically it isn't street legal, although there are no bumper height laws for "heavy duty" trucks there are headlight height laws, this truck violates several traffic laws but it has never caused me any grief with the law. so come on guys and girls, don't be haters, just because alot of time and money went into building this truck doesn't mean it's a queen....happy motoring!

anyways,it's a 496 stroker,680-ish h.p......nothing to abnormal for a truck with 50" tires and weighs in at 8800 lbs......it is a blast to drive, gets alot of attention, but so does my lifted dually...the one that was in fubar 2.....driving nice vehicles is a responsibility not a right...everyone should respect each individual persons right to drive his or her brand and style of vehicle......just my opinion.....have a great day .

i guess a real big truck with lots of horsepower and all the offroad accessories is no different than a tuner laying on the ground ,exhaust twice as big as the rims, lambo doors, spoilers etc......everyone has their own opinion of whats nice and whats not.....i personally own four lifted 4bys...because thats my thing but i don't go beating up the tuner guys,or the lowrider guys because i don't "get" their way of life......i see alot of cars on this site that do nothing for me but i can appreciate the work that went into building them.....my trucks all have alot of thought, planning and money in them and are "go" as well as "show".........again,just saying.
