i'm going to clean the carbs on my 81 gs 750 before i sell it and i'm just wondering how hard it's going to be...


i'm a fuel injection guy i don't even know what the inside of a carb looks like:dunno:

Remove the tank, but leave the fuel line connected and then seafoam (or the like) while the bike is running.

Cleaning carbs, you want to get into the float bowls and make sure sure the needles arent sticking, or stuck open.. that sort of thing. It can be tedious... especially on something with 4 carbs, which I believe your 750 has.

it wont start up that's why i'm cleaning the carbs

rip apart and re assemble - not really fun at all... ever.

take it to a shop?

Have you looked into why it wont start up?

well i thought it was the carbs... one of the bowls started to leak before i parked it and i left gas in it all winter ( i know..)

they want $400 plus supplies- i said no thanks

who knows i might end up taking it to them anyway....

damn it i guess it's time to learn up

Curious, how much are you asking for it? That bike could make a sweet ratbike.

i forgot there was a choke :rolleyes:
no kidding i couldn't get it started... i feel pretty dumb..

ya i got it running. i forgot to use the choke that's why it didn't start...

i really prefer fuel injection...
