Thread: Yamaha Qt50 won't run

    Default Yamaha Qt50 won't run

    Hello all,
With the nice weather I've been wanting to take my crappy old scooter for a spin. I had it running about a month ago and it was running great. Today I go to start her up, fires right up but then is popping and lacking power.
Finally, it crapped out and would no start again. I spent over an hour fiddling with the carb to no avail. Yes there is gas in the tank
Any suggestions on how to get this beast running?

    Thanks!

Will it start at all now? If No. Then check the fuel and air lines for dirt. Also check the plug.

Or just go and buy a used chainsaw and replace the whole motor.

X2 But how can you possibly tell if THAT is lacking power. Also knowing small motorcycles and their weirdness you may not have a fuel filter, so dirt may be causing it. If so go buy like a $1.50 in-line filter and save yourself the grief later on. Also as you didn't post what year it was (and I'm assuming its a bit older) and probably has a metal gas tank, sometimes the coating inside tends to like to drop off and plug everything...

I'm sure a chainsaw, weedwacker, lawnmower engine would work just fine with a little modification. While your trying to fix the moped, why not put a small turbo on it to boost up the power a bit.
