We also went through a few before picking up a Dyson. When we first brought it home vacuumed the whole house with the old vacuum then used the Dyson and it picked up a whole bunch out of the carpet the other missed. I think the only complaint I have had is the cable being a touch on the short side, but almost 7 years later or so hasn't yet had any actual problems.

my cord is also like 3X longer then the other cords, before you could barely make it up the stairs with it being plugged in where it is, i can nearly do the entire upstairs with it plugged in the same spot. plus all the stuff it picks up is good but disgusting lol

Shark is just as good, and probably a couple hundred dollars cheaper. But hey, if spending insane amounts of money on a cleaning tool makes you feel good, who am I to judge?

i've had my dyson since 2010/2011

it does a great job on carpet. with the hard floor attachment, its so-so.

could also use more selection on brush heads.

I just use the same head/attachment on my carpet that I do on my hardwood and tile. Nothing has happened yet lol

*knock on wood* I do prefer it over any vacuum I've used.

Changing the canister is a PITA, though. I always wear a mask and latex gloves when I empty it out lol

i have the upright, its not too bad. but i have a shit of a dog that sheds way too much for his size.

I get a lot of dust in my canister and the whole thing needs a wash quite often. the air coming out of the vacuum also smells like feet now.

peopel keep telling me about the shark, i saw it in person, looked like a real POS imo, plus the dyson has a lifetime warranty, im not sure if the shark does, but i havent had a single issue with any of the dysons i have bought, so i naturally went with it

i had my dyson break some stuff already (6 years old) and the replacement part prices are lol. $100 for little plastic pieces etc. shits overhyped imo.
