Did your neighbor at least split the cost of the fence with you?

Do you have your Final Grade certificate from the city? If not, how does that work where they need to check your grading under the deck?

we only have rough grade certificate and we dont need anything under the deck to pass final grade odly enough. And i know this because a buddy of mine has a house 5 doors down from me and he did all this last summer. it seems odd. but im ok with not having to add top soil under there

exactly what I was thinking... maybe leduc is different?

it's totally your call but i find it very odd to build a deck before final grade is in... you're likely going to end up with water pooling under the deck once grade is in...

You're lucky. I had to get my final grade cert before I was allowed to put a deck up.

And since every deck thread needs one of these,

yeah i checked all my neighbors around me that have a deck and some of them had a deck built by the builder and there is nothing but rough grade under their decks.

Keep in mind that builders do not always do everything correct...

IMO if I was spending that much on a deck I would get the OK by the city to proceed before full construction. Would be a pain to have to take a portion apart to do final grading....

Personally I would still need some grading under your deck (other then rough)... final grade is generally 7-20cm's of top soil... which would make under your deck a low spot.

    Either way sweet deck!
