Next I loaded the car up for Team Norths annual no prep race. Left work early on friday to get in on some testing friday afternoon/night. The track was what you'd expect for a no prep, starting line was surprisingly good, but anything after that wasn't... Made 3 test passes the fastest being a super soft 6.04 to the 1/8th, and when I went back up for my 4th pass... the 5.3 decided it finally had enough on the burnout. Engine stalled (or so I thought) and it had broken #6 piston/rod.

    Ready to load up...

    The hired help

    RIP little 5.3

Ended up buying an all aluminum 5.3 with the intentions of using it, but got ripped off and the engine was completely full of water.

So I pieced together a shortblock using pistons from 3 different 5.3's, rods from 2 different blown up LS3's, the crank out of the blown up engine, and a block from a friend, only thing I was able to salvage from the 5.3 that I bought was the 243 casting cylinder heads.

    Going back in the car...

Ready to go racing again! Took the car to the Last 275 race of the year since I figured it would be my last chance to run on good track prep when its warm. Qualified middle of the Field but ended up losing second round to my buddy Neil in the Cream Dream.

    Plans for this winter include:

    - New 6.0 engine with Lunati rods, CP pistons, Trickflow heads etc...
    - Rebuild transmission(nothing wrong with it, just going through it while its out)
    - Mini tubs
    - Some fab work on rear suspension to change from a panhard bar to a wishbone
    - Install new rear double adjustable coil overs
    - Chromoly lower control arms
    - Narrow rear 1" per side to bring the tires further away from the wheel lips
    - New heavier springs for front coil overs
    - Lower car more front and rear
    - Change fuel lines to -12an feed and -10an return
    - Install new cable driven fuel pump
    - New front k-member
    - Raise rack and pinion (will allow me to remove bumpsteer spacers on tie rod ends) It is also the lowest point in the front of the car and constantly hits things.
    - New rear end center section, Switching from a 3.50 to a 3.89 gear, also installing a Moser Big pinion bolt through aluminum case to save weight
    - Install safecraft onboard fire suppression system
    - Install new spring loaded parachute launcher
    - Hopefully new front wheels
    - Also going to attempt to remove approximately 250lbs from the car. LOL

    new rods:

    cable drive fuel pump components

Rear coil overs and 225lb 14" front springs

Such a ridiculous ongoing build. Remove doors for weight savings
