We're pleased to welcome Track Junkies as a forum sponsor for 2017.
For those who don't already know about Track Junkies, or aren't yet attending their events, Track Junkies is Alberta’s premier performance driving program operating on the road course that Castrol Raceway opened in 2013. Their track events offer drivers a safe environment to explore their street car's capabilities and limits while also improving their own driving skills. Over 700 drivers have already completed their novice program, and as one of them famously said "It's the most fun I've had with my pants on in a long time."
Track Junkies is run by Paul Conquest. Paul has been teaching people to drive fast for more than 20 years, with the Porsche Club of America, Alberta BMW Advanced Driving School, Edmonton Indy Driving Experience, and Ariel Atom Experience ... to name just a few. He holds a FIA racing license and has personally driven over 30 bucket-list race tracks across North America in everything from a BMW Spec e30 to a factory-built Porsche GT3 Cup Car. And in the process he's seen the best and worst track event managers in action, learning how --- and sometimes how not --- to run track days.
What's really great about Track Junkies is their focus on having fun SAFELY. Paul has used what he learned over 20+ years of track driving to put together a professional program supported by an F1-level safety crew, experienced race marshals and flaggers, and over 70 qualified instructors to help get novice track drivers up to speed quickly. Track Junkies offers a top-notch driving experience with an amazing safety record. They also operate all of Castrol Raceway's corporate and private events.
Track Junkies open lapping days are scheduled about every 2-3 weeks throughout the season. It doesn't take much to get on track ... you just need a safe car, a valid drivers license (Class 5 GDL OK; Class 7 OK with parental consent), and a helmet. Details are here: http://www.trackjunkies.ca/the-basic...ting-on-track/.
One of the surprising things we learned from talking to Paul is that you can get on the race track with Track Junkies without affecting or voiding your insurance coverage ... check out the insurance page on their website for a detailed explanation.
We're excited to be working with Track Junkies to help promote their track days. What that really means is from time to time, we'll be able to offer our forum members some special opportunities to come out and experience the track for the first time. So stay tuned.
