alright, thanks guys I probably won't be buying for a month or so until I'm back in town, I'll keep doing my own research and decide then. or maybe I'll just decide gaming isn't very important or something.

    LOL!

Yeah... A month is a long time. Some of these laptops might not even be available in a month.

Keep your eyes open for a good deal!

    yeah true.
how about for my friend though, he's looking at the same price range. what about that gigabyte vs this asus? http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX65078

the asus has a Gsinc monitor which from my understanding is a huge benefit if you start playing games that the 1060 just barely can't keep up with and it should really help on the super graphic intensive parts when the framerates drop right?

its 1899 on newegg so my friend would use mem express price match, so its only 100$ more than the gigabyte.

It only has a 128GB SSD. So, you're paying $100 more, and getting a smaller SSD? No thank you.

It should be $100 cheaper, because the SSD is only half the size.

Go with the Gigabyte. For your friend too.

Actually... Nevermind. Somebody else must have been watching this thread.

They're all sold out of the Gigabyte laptops now. HAHAHAHAHA.

That's what happens when you wait.

I guess if you're willing to spend another $250, you could step up a notch to a laptop with the GTX1070.

Good golly, I miss the days of a top-range gaming laptop being $1500, rather than $2250.00

ha was talking about upgrading the SSD anyways.

so you don't think the Gsinc monitor adds value, I've heard some good things about Gsinc. especially when you are buying a good enough graphics card instead of a way overpowered one for the screen.

"Upgrading" the SSD? By installing his old 2.5" SATA SSD? And replacing a much faster PCI-E SSD?

Here... I just did some quick looking.

Order this laptop... both of you... https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Produc...82E16834234297

I realize it's got a 6th-gen processor, BUT, it also has the GTX1070. And for $1900, a laptop with a 1070 is an amazing deal.

Too bad Memory Express is all sold out.

    That one has G-Sync.

    But I just realized it's only a 15.6" laptop, and not a 17.3" laptop.

    Shit.
