Default Driver acquitted in fatal Edmonton hit-and-run

Surprised at the outcome - someone obviously was in the wrong (traffic wise) - but even the fact that the driver's excuse being a pot-hole passed the judge?

    Feel bad for the EPS/Family

    In a word: ludicrous.
If you're going to swear in court that you're THAT unaware of your surroundings while operating a vehicle, you should have a lifetime driving ban imposed with your bullshit acquittal.

The thought of having an airbag deploy and not stop to see WTF happened in general seems absolutly stupid. If you hit a pothole that hard don't think the car would drive strait anymore either.

Dude was probably drunk out of his tree. Said he had like a half a glass of wine or something like that.

    I call bullshit.

It takes a LOT more than a pothole to set off ANY airbag... and airbags do NOT go off a 'few seconds later.'

They need to have mechanics/etc in these court hearings...

There shouldn't be a court hearing. This like having a trial for a red light camera violation. And then somehow getting away with it.

"You were in an accident and fucked off."
"Derp I'm spercial nand I diint know!"
"Nothing about that changes the FACT that you were in an accident and fucked off. Guilty. Done. No trial."

I got hit-and-run once. Called the cops on bluetooth while chasing the other driver. My tire was flat and I had to give up after a short while.

They wouldn't charge him with "hit-and-run" because they couldn't prove he didn't try to find me after. He said he pulled off at the next off-ramp and didn't know I had a flat tire and couldn't come up to meet him.
