All hype.

I will believe it when it actually hits the dealer showroom.

No doubt. And people cried vapourware over the Volt.

The difference being that Toyota and Subaru will still be around in 2012 when the car is supposed to show up in dealer showrooms.

BTW, a Subaru engine in a Subaru platform built in a Subaru factory: How is that a joint venture?

I throw the volt into the same category.

All talk no action. We will never see the volt in production.

At least they've been actively developing the systems and showcasing them to consumers and media as the project goes along. So far all we've seen of this Toyubaru is that one sketch and news every few days of it being on hold or not.

And never is a strong word. I'll bet you an Epiphone Sudio 10 practice amp that we see a production Volt, if the company survives.

*edit*
It's a joint venture because Toyota is pouring the cash into the project.

I don't have use for a practice amp.

I will give credit to GM for that. Toyota sledom showboats stuff they are working on. For the most part it seems to be very secretive untill it is actually released.

I am not holding my breath for the toyubaru or the volt.

They didn't buy Fuji, and they don't own Subaru. They own somewhere around 25% of Subaru, which is majority owned by Fuji Heavy Industries. They bought all of GM's shares in the car company, but none of the parent.
