I do see the logic when the chief engineer explains how turning VDC off was ment for getting the vehicle stuck out of mud/snow. By turning VDC off you're basically turning off traction control, and when you're stuck in snow/mud traction control will just kill any momentum in trying to get unstuck.
However, whether or not the North American manual states what turning VDC actually does is beyond my knowledge. I have yet to read anything about the manual clearly stating if you want to get off the line as quickly as possible i.e reach a 3.5s 0-60 time, turn off VDC.

OP: I don't see how any roasting was done. Everyone on our shores has been fuming after blowing shit up with VDC off but it's their own faults. I bet next to NONE of them actually read their manual beyond looking at neat illustrations.
The biggest deception of the GTR is the costs associated with servicing it.

Nissan still has to claim some responsibility. I have VDC in my Z and the car fuckin sucks with it on. If a GTR owner came from a previous Nissan car I can see why their first reaction would be to turn it off.

I agree with AuZZie, the Z's VDC is too sensitive and too abrupt. The first few times I triggered it on dry pavement it felt like the car hit a curb. Even in the winter the system cuts power to long after the smallest of slips when if it didn't the tire would have regained traction long before power was returned.
I always turn the thing off unless I'm using cruise control in the Winter (then if it detects a slip it will cancel the cruise control automatically).
