I've been checking out cold air intakes and found that everything out there is just for the MR2 turbos. Do any of you have suggestions about what would work on a N/A engine besides just the stock K&N filter (which I've already ordered and will work, of course)?

As well, where do you guys shop in the Edmonton area for MR2 accessories? I want to replace my floormats and can't find anything I like online. If there's somewhere in Edmonton that I should go, let me know!

Not sure about a cold air intake - you might have to fab one up from some exhaust tubing...

As for the floormats, I'd bet the dealers can order some for you... Maybe even TRD...

Fact of the matter is that MR2s are far less common than civics and neons (or even RX-7s and skylines) so there just isn't a whole lot made for us... It sucks, but that's the way it is.

Yeah - the more I look, the more I realize how much isn't offered for MR2's. To me, that just makes it all the more cool, but is sure a pain in the rear when you want to accessorize.

After a bit more searching last night, I found something from a company called Weapon-R Racing Development - kind of a pseudo-CAI for MR2 non-turbos...

Doing some research to see if it's worth it... anyone familiar with these?

As well, does anyone have the ram air mods that I've seen on many MR2 pics - the ones that jut up from the trunk right behind the tops of the roof? (I think Bomex is one company that makes them). How well do these work, and is something like that useful for a non-turbo? If you have any websites that give info on these, I'd be grateful.

I know you guys with turbos love 'em to death, but after seeing how much it costs for upkeep/repair compared to the N/A, I'll stick with mine.

You could get a scoop, but it doesn't do anything. MR2s already have cold air ram intakes through the side vents. The engine bay was designed to lift air from under the car and the sides and send it out upwards through the engine lid. The toms scoops just mess with that airflow.

Now that I think about it, somewhere I saw a little add on piece that extended the side vents to pull in more air. Can't think of who made it or where I saw it though. Must have been on MR2OC or something.

Thanks for that - I wasn't sure if those roof scoops were tied in directly to the intake or not. I gotta think they're not very aerodynamic, either. I like the idea of modifying the side intakes better.

Yeah I agree with you guys that it isn't easy to find parts since they're pretty rare. But personally, that's one of the biggest reason I chose the 2 over any other import I was looking into. Not only do I get looks when I'm driving around cause I RHD but I'm almost positive a lot of people just don't know what it is. Or for the turbo guys like myself, just how fast it is....

Along the same vein of the CAI, is there a specific reason (fit, engine specs) that the K&N Typhoon CAI is only for MR2 turbos, and not for the N/A's (as per the K&N website listing)? After checking into the Weapon-R the reviews are mixed, so I'd rather go with a tried-and-true brand. I've gotten the stock K&N filter and I"m sure it'll be great, but I would like to see how a CAI would perform and sound...

please dont get the side vents they are soooo ugly. just get a cai (even off ebay) they usually dont show major gains for brand to brand. also i recogmend that you also get an aftermarket exhaust manifold and exhaust. thats where you will reeeeaaally see gains on an mr2. that way you will give stock turbos a run for their money or you can always drop in a turbo engine whis is alot more fun
