| Too damn expensive. It's not just a turbo on a stock engine. Stock QR25s blow up at 250ish WHP. This one is built to make ~400 WHP. |

its almost a stock engine ;)
new rods, pistons, sleeves and cams and voila you have an engine capable of 400whp! |

The weakness of the QR25 engine is the spindly pistons and rods. To put any major boost into it you would need to build an engine from the ground up. Plus, the ECU hasn't been cracked so you'll have to run stand alone fuel management or get a piggyback system at higher boost levels.
Also, there is lack on knowledge on boosting the QR25. There are a few intrepid individuals forging new territory but I don't think I have the balls to risk blowing up my engine.
In the future I think I'll try and find a QR25 block and do a complete build up and see what it can do. In the meantime, bolt ons and maybe put it on the bottle will be as far as I go. :D |
