lower a jbody - Click HERE for Original Thread

a buddy and i were thinking about taking some old stock springs from our j bodys and cutting them for a 1.5 inch drop. does anyone have experience or know what kind of ride to expect or if the springs are even strong enough to tamper with? i have intrax springs on my car and they are cut and the ride is really rough.

Cutting stock springs = ghetto = unsafe. Do it right and invest in some real lowering springs. They're really not that expensive.

just take the springs right out, and get new shocks..

pick up some springs; cut springs=rice plus your car will ride like shit and bottom out

Add Go Kart tires to your J Body - Low profile=Low Stance!

You cant really lower a car and expect to have a soft ride.. your reducing the suspensions travel, and with that to keep from bottoming out you need stiffer springs.

however if you are lookin to lower your car and keep the same ride quality, you can TRY and find drop spindles. I dont know if they have them for jbodies, but you can try. You will still bottom out on hard bumps tho.

ya, cutting your springs would be almost as rough as the ride you have now with the intrax... if you want a better ride on the intrax, get some aftermarket struts, however these are really expensive, 700-900$ usually for koni's
