That's a pretty common sight when you start to push big power through a small block ford.

A freind of mine did the same thing in Grande prairie last year.

So now he can be the first on his block to tell the tale of how he split his block when his friends are hanging around the garage drinking beer...

Now really, how the hell does one do that? my god thats insane, I have never seen anything like it, and those guys at the mustang website sure are pulling out some numbers. Its kinda funny to see a 3600 lbs car run 10's and 11's when many cars on here are running 12's and 13's on 2500 lb cars. Gotta love those 5.0L stangs.:)

CYA
the good old corral. lol. that's where i learned all my stuff.

actually splitting a block is "somewhat" common for the oem ford "5.0" block. usually they split right down the lifter valley like what you see in picture #3. but actually splitting it all the way through... haha... i've never seen it.

all the stories i kept hearing about the blocks splitting at more than 500hp is why i went with my 351w sportsman block. but after all the years that my friend has been running on his oem 5.0 block and running his power levels... i learned that i should have gambled on the ticking timebomb. he's up at 5 yrs and counting. zero problems. 5.0's are cheap to build. you can have a short block good for 500 hp for about ~$1200-1500.
