Another ticket, and this time its undeserved - Click HERE for Original Thread

Neo-Blue99GASE
Well I am just getting tired of this now. A week ago, a cop pulls me over for what he claims as not stopping at a stop sign. Now I wouldnt have such a bone if I had actually deserved the ticket, but I came to a complete stop! I was just coming out from my community and I stopped at the sign. Now as I turn right to go on the main street, the cop follows me for a bit, and then turns on his sirens, so I know he was checking my license. So I pull over and he asks me if I know what I had done, and I had no friggin clue. He then says that he and his supervisor were wondering what I was doing by not stopping at a stop sign? I couldnt really understand because I knew I had stopped at the sign, it was just a quick stop, but I know my tires stopped rotating. Anyways, im confused as hell because I was wondering where he came from to supposidly see me not stop. His reply was that he was behind the car that was turning right into my subdivision.
Now I got really confused by this because there was no way he could possibly see if I came to a stop or not because that vehicle was blocking his line of sight and possibly his supervisor's too. Now im just wondering if the cops are out to get me. I know I will be fighting this in court. Im not going to pay a ticket I do not deserve. Now im wondering if anyone has any advice for fighting this ticket.
Im already going to request a time in sheet of some sort, so he can prove he infact did have his supervising officer with him and whether or the supervisor saw me do this or not. Also I will be questioning his line of sight judgment on if he could see me fully or not. It was at night and im positive the driver of the cop car couldnt see me. Now does anyone know if cop car have cameras in them? becasue if they do, im going to ask to see the tape to prove that I did not come to a complete stop.
Basically, if anyone has something more to add for advice or comments, it would be ncie to hear what you have to say. But im seriously getting tired of this. I am really wondering now if the RCMP in The Park have it out for me or something, because its looking that way.

Drink coffee, eat donuts, and talk all day at Tim Hortons....

DeathBy240
I got pulled over for not stopping for a stop sign. It was a "trap" but I didnt stop, I rolled through it. I was pissed off at the time as I stopped enough to see that there was nothing coming, but didnt make a legal stop. I learned my lesson tho. Just pay it and remember they are out there watching you, just take the extra second and say S-T-O-P.

98 teg
if you stopped then fight it, some of the rc inthe park can be assholes but their are a couple who are really cool and understanding

Flex
Are they RCMP in the park???

DeathBy240
They sure are.

3 seconds for a complete stop, 1 second just doesn't cut it

that three second thing is a myth......as long as the car comes to a complete stop that's all that is required........

the three second rule is just a good guideline.

S

Neo-Blue99GASE
yep. the three second rule is a good rule to follow. But the law states that the vehicle must come to a complete stop and it defines complete as all wheels stop rotating and the vehicle is no longer in motion. Thx for the support though. I have to reply to the ticket by the 18 of december. Nice christmas gift eh? Anyways. I hope I can fight it without it running into my school, but its something im willing to fight. I will agree with deathby240 in that some cops in the park are asses but some are very cool too. There wasnt anything wrong with this cop, like he was polite and all. Its just I dont really agree with him and his judgements, but besides that, he seemed ok.

shorti
how much was the ticket?

DeathBy240
Mine was around $60, but that was in September of last year.

holy crap dude :o ...278 and 4f@cking demerits!... ...doesn't that jack up your insurance rate thorugh the roof?...and plus int stays on your record for like 3 yrs too...ouch!

SplineZ
yea, its a crock of shit that it stays with you for that long..

I was told tickets stay on your record for 2 yrs, and it takes the insurance company an additional 1yr to take it off?

someone correct me if im wrong..

James Z

-]TooL[-
$278 and 4 demerits! holy sh!t dude thats really harsh. where do you guys find out
if and how many demerits you have?

SplineZ
get a drivers abstract, it will tell you there...

James Z

midnite
which officer was it?

Neo-Blue99GASE
not sure of what this cops name was. But like ive said before. He really wasnt a bad cop. I can totally understand that he's just trying to do his job. Its the fact that his judgement is way off is what is pissing me off. But yea, the demerits and the fact that insurance is high as hell is just really getting annoying. I really dont like being picked on by cops and it sure as hell seems like it right now. Hell last year I could go around and do whatever I wanted and nothing, and now this year, well its all gone to shit. It just it really pisses me off when there are a 1000 terrible drivers on the streets that cops never pull over, and there are us young guys whom they love to pull over. It just gets irritating.

Nightstalker
His name will be on your ticket man

How does he know you were a young guy? He sounds like he was behind you....

I see cops pulling people over all the time - and they aren't all young people (Hell, I see mini-vans pulled over even). So I don't think that excuse can fly.

You're just mad you got caught - which is understandable.

Neo-Blue99GASE
No, he was most likely checking my driver record because he had enough time to do that. My driver record would show ive been pulled over a few times for illegal modifications and he might have been checking for more of those.

when the police check your DL it does NOT show your drivers record. It has DOB, addy, if the DL is valid etc. It also says if and when another PO has run your plate!!!

S

Neo-Blue99GASE
hmm, I honestly did not know that schlong. I thought for sure it had previous offences listed on their computers as well. Either way, im still fighting it.

bentotdagr3at

NOt all Police are evil, you have probly only meet the bad ones, like a car repair shop, there is 100 bad ones for the 10 good ones.

I know several RCMP officers who are family friends, that are nice people. You only meet them when you have broken a law in which they are there to enforce

S

BlueBlur
umm.. yeah.. i'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you on this one .. okay??... greaatt...

MightyMidget
O-K.........

sorry...NO......photo radar tickets are NOT give to the person driving the car.....they are given to the Registered owner......so they would NOT show up when they run your name/DL.

saw...errrr...USED the car computer!!!

S

BlueBlur
O-K.........

sorry...YES......photo radar ticket INFORMATION is given to the person driving the car.
......so they WOULD show up when they run your PLATE.

did not use...errrr...was shown to me on the car computer!!!

p.s.
so, mr encyclopedia... then how do you explain the photo radar tix information I saw on the screen that the officer showed me?... I don't think he was making it up.
You know, time marches on and technology progresses; Perhaps the in car computer can now show the infraction dates of photoradar tickets. Unless you have been using the system recently and can tell me that what I have seen is a blatant fabrication. As far as I know you are not an active EPS member. So your information is old.

well then I obviously don't know what I am talking about then......so I do believe YOU are mr encyclopedia.

btw- with my current job I still have VERY frequent contact with EPS members......and the system has not changed very much since I last used it.

S

BlueBlur
I'm not saying you don't know what you are talking about.
I just know what I saw and what was explained to me.

If it comes down to believing what an EPS constable shows and tells me, or believing you...

Sorry, but you're just an internet schmoe :P :D

I just had a problem with the misinformation that was given out.

Photo radar tickets are NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT given to the driver of the vehicle.....they are mailed to the REGISTERED owners address.......so that would not come up if a friend was driving YOUR car and the police ran his dl.......

S

BlueBlur
umm... I think we are talking about 2 different things.

I agree that ca$hcow TICKETS are sent to the registered owner.

The POLICE can pull this information on the in car computer(witnessed)

You know what the sad thing is. Cops now a days are more concerned with busting people for improper stops, not have valid information on your drivers license, giving seat belt tickets to moms picking their kids up from school.

Where are the cops when peoples cars are getting broken into in broad daylight, or when the 7-11 down the street is getting robbed. Or when your at the bar and a bunch of guys jump someone and start beating the crap outta them?

Law enforcement is becoming a joke. Its a money scam, all the cops care about is handing out as many friggin tickets they can so they can make more money. Last time I checked the Police are here to serve and protect. Not to do traffic patrol.

I get followed, pulled over, ticketed more times for stupid stuff then I can count. Im sure many of you people can relate as well.

Why do police carry a gun, pepper spray, or a taser? So they can take care of someone who pulls a U-turn somewhere. Yes people shouldnt be allowed to speed, run red lights and drink and drive.

But when you get a ticket for you exhaust, or having a blue light somewhere "illegal" or when they just think you are "street racing" it really makes me think twice about the system.

One funny thing I found out. About the time I received my ticket, I heard from many people that they recieved tickets as well. Most of these drivers ahvent recieved tickets in many many years, but at about the same time as I received mine, they received ones too. It could quite possibly be that at the time I got my ticket, law enforcements where on a certain prowl, to be more aware of traffice violations. I dont know whether or not previous tickets will come up on a cops computer, I honestly thought they did and I still believ they do. Maybe not photo radar tickets, but most other tickets, I would assume, would appear. Sorry if this has started a bit of a flame war, that was not my intention. Anywho, only a week and a half left before I gotta show up and plead not guilty, then court. Honestly, I would advice if you have had similar instances to mine, that you fight the ticket. Im fighting mine because I know I stopped and I believe the RCMP were in the wrong to pull me over. I just think its somewhat retarded that they would pull me over for this and not even fully see my car during my stopping. We all will agree that many cops can and will be complete asses just because they are people, and we all hate certain people. But we also can agree that there are many cool cops who are actually there when you need them, and let you off on tickets because they want to be nice. So there is my two cents
