Hi,
If you can bring it in and register it and insure it then the car is legal(at least here in Alberta).
There are so many loopholes in the import laws you need not worry.
Remember there is nothing illegal about an insured and licensed(registered) car.
The easiest way to bring in newer cars and skip the import tax is to switch the seat belts to an earlier year(they are stamped with a date).
That's how alot of these cars get over here.
Why you guys are wasting time questioning the legalities of this particular car is pointless. If he has a plate registered to the car and insurance then who cares? Why argue?
These laws will change one day. Someone will get killed in a right hand drive car and then we will see change. These cars are not safe. They are missing marker lights, the bumpers are inferior to North American Spec cars, and sometimes you cannot see properly when turning left due to the steering on the wrong side.

I forgot.
Remember, there are alot of stupid people working as custom inspectors too.
If they waive it in then you have no worries.

Why because it's illegal!!!!
The car is not 15 years old, it should not be here!
Loopholes or not! Think about it! You're still breaking the law and when it's found out that these dumb asses are bringing in newer cars than they should be... it'll become a lot harder to import cars! |

Sure, anyone can do anything and get away with it. WHO CARES!!!
Second, it isn't completely legal, if it was, then everyone would have one. They need to be DOT approved by Canada's standards.
Since this topic had nothing to do with anything, and you just posted useless shit...
