Well, my and Aaron "Magnum" are headed out to meet SuperPirate for drinks last night and were traveling on 101st just after the kingsway traffic circle and we pass like 114ave and I dint notice but Aaron radios me telling me a cop just pulled a U'ey and was catching up to us. He follows Aaron tell we reach 111 ave and right before the light I change lanes and get into the right lane. This cops immediatley pulls out and gets on my tail nearly bumper to bumper. He dint even notice me until I pulled out in front of Aaron. There was no way he saw me until i pulled out at 111ave because there was a big van in front of me and Aaron tailing me down 101 st.
So this is where it gets humourous. I'm driving normally and shifting real low so my exhust dosent resonate. This cops like right on my tail and i step on my brakes and then he backs off. Next thing i hear on the radio is "oh shit" so i look back and the cherrys are popping.
So I pull over right before the turn into Esso on 101 and like ericson nissan. He gets out of and i roll down my window the first thing he does is sticks his flash light from the inside of my car to check the darkness of my tint. And let me tell you its not at all dark. Like a real light smoke charcol. You guys who've seen my car no its not at all dark. Well he then goes infront of my car and say turn your signals on and i do and comes back and says you have a bomb shell here and I ask him "what are you talking about?" He says "your light there all blue!" hahaha I laughed and told him they are super white halogens and my washer lights are white same with my side markers. Well he says get out of your car and have a look. Aaron comes walking up to my car as I hop out. The cop says look at your light and i do he says what do you see. Well ya there was a blue reflection but thats from the bulb and was not emitting a blue light. He says my Side markers are blue, and yes they do look blue so thats my bad. I then ask this nut sack cop why do the new Mercedes and BMW's all have super white side mkarer light and super white HID head lights? he tells me he never seen them before and what do you know a RX300 rolls by with HIDS and he he says those are legal yet they are just as bright if not worse then my car. He then goes to the back of my car and points his flash light at my muffler. He tells me its illegal to have an over sized mufller and i tell him its no fart can, just to improve my cars performance because i Auto X. Well this guy says we have a long list i could write you up for, and asks for my licence and tells me to wait in my car. I ask him dont you want to see my licence and registration? he tells me no. I go over and stand by Aaron and we start chuckling and Aaron loudy asks me "why's that cop harrassing you and this and that." We both are laughing as this cops checking my identity. He glares at us and we still keep on laughing, no matter what if hes gonna bomb me i might as well make him more mad by not being intimidated by him, and sitting in my car all scared. So after Aaron finnishes his smoke we then go back to our cars. The cop then comes over and hands me 2 tickets for head light infractions and tells me to get all my stuff fixed; in my mind i'm like :thefinger: haha Then i tell him thanks for not dropping the bomb on me. And I pull into the Esso to meet Aarons car. The cop then pulls into the Esso and goes right up to the Tim Hortons counter :thefinger:
What a sexually deprived single bachlor and will die as one traffic cop. I know he dint make his quotta this month and probably thought I was some drug dealing punk who was likley soooo scared of the EPS hahaha.
I'll see this homo in court. Glad I had Aaron there to back up my story!!
Anyways thought I share that with you guys. |

I'm surprised he didn't write you up for your muffler too - you deserved it.
The guys just doing his job, which is to hand out traffic tickets. The people who are at fault are the ones who tell them to crack down on this shit, not the cop. He's just trying to make a living.
Show them respect, and they show it right back. Treat them like shit, and they treat you like shit. |

He should have the tickets thrown out. His lights look almost like my HID's from the TL, they do not look blue, but his sidemarkers are "blue" IMO. Brandon's exhaust is still fairly small compared to most "fart" cannons out lthere and it sure as hell is NOT loud, I think my Maxima is louder!
Take em on B, worst that can happen is you still have to pay em!
If he was doing his job, maybe he should focus on people driving dangerously and impared and such, rahter than worrying about headlights, since they're working properlly! The same cop probably would not pull over some OLD white lady in a sunfire or something w/ one burnt out headlight.... |

| It sems to me that the quteo about showing cops respect and they will show it back to you is somewhat off. Honestly, I had no problmes with any cops up until about 5 months ago. Now its just hell. |

the cop was just looking for something to do... he followed me first... realized there was nothing he could give me a ticket for, then passed me, followed brandon for a bit, then turned on his lights..... sure, its his job..... but i think there are way more important things that our tax money should pay for which pays his wages... not a blue tinge that you have to stick your head in the headlight to see. |

Personally, I don't have a lot of repect for those who show dis-respect for authority. The police are there for a reason, and enforce the laws for a reason.When people do what you did, it makes it tougher on everone else with a nice car, who isnt doing anything really 'bad'.
I used to think the same way as you in regards to crappy tint/exhaust/light tickets, but, I guess maturity finally took over.

Did you guys miss the post going on about small traffic safety violations? We were talking about this very same thing, weather a cop decides to use his discression or not. Technically things like that are illegal, but usually a cop wont give you a ticket for.
Were you guys speeding? That might of given him reason to hassle/notice you?

You don't realize that it's BECAUSE OF TICKETS that there are actually police officers solving crimes?
If they didn't give out tickets, they wouldn't be able to do anything.
He admittingly has "blue" sidemarkers on his car. He knew it was illegal. He got a ticket. If he has one visably illegal item on his car, he has given the cop a reason to pull him over. Pay the ticket - take responsibility for what you did. |

| Just read this interesting thread. Same theme as so many on this site and elsewhere. It would be easy to dismiss a lot of the comments as the whining of those who knowingly disregard the law. There is another side to it: the fairness of the law itself. When the PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT (not the EPS or the RCMP) morphed the old Highway Traffic Act into the new Traffic Safety Act earlier this year, they took advantage of the opportunity to include a whole lot of new equipment regulations and of course, up the penalties for everything under the sun. I don't remember much attention given to this in the press during the "policy formation" stage, so one can only assume that most of the input came from "interested parties", such as the police, AMA, municipalities, counties and of course Alberta Transportation itself. Was the general public clamoring for Ralph to do something about those nasty blue headlights? I don't remember letters to the editor or calls on the open line shows about it. The police are only enforcing the legislation that the Legislature (RALPH) enacted. If you don't like it, write or e-mail your MLA -- you can get this from the www.gov.ab.ca site. There will be an election in 2 years or so. Exercise your rights as a voter and ask candidates what their position is on these issues when they come around. Maybe it's time to vote for a government that cares about us little people. Maybe you should be giving this :thefinger: to Ralph and his buddies instead of the cops. |

The laws arent as harsh as everyone makes it seem. Everyone knows if you arent being stupid you probobly wont get pulled over. A new government is not going to change the traffic safety act in favor of the auto enthusiast scene anyways. Its just not that big of a priority.

My problem with cops right now is that they are out there hunting for imports. They just like to pick on us and harass us. A cop told my my friend this summer that he hates imports and he's gonna nail any import driver that he can.
I was pulled over several times last summer also and the some of the cops were Extremely biased and rude. The others weren't friendly either but they didn't try to totally slam me. Cops give themselves a bad rep. Just speaking from my own experiences. |

| Me and Sunil(shift at 9000rpm) ran into an alright cop, we were parked in a parking lot by IGA bullshitting, a bylaw officer comes up, starts talkin, told sunil he could get a ticket for enlarged tip, asked if it was loud, and sunil told him he would start it so he could here, the cops said ill take ur word on it, bullshitted with us for 20 mins asked which car is faster, then left to the tim hortons drive thru. Didnt ask about my clear corners as they have a blue bulb and white bulb. That was my first experience with a cop and an auto and i think not all cops are bad, just the majority.... |

| Everybody always says why aren't cops out catching criminals instead of harassing people who only marginally break the law. Why don't they catch the guy who's robbing, assaulting or whatever. I thought about that and this obvious answer comes to mind. If I was assaulting or robbing someone or I sure wouldn't be doing it in front of the cops. Cops are in cars, I'm in a car, my car is on the road same as theres and I am usually in plain sight on the road. Now if all the criminals would just hang out by the police station or donut shop and commit crimes in that vicinity the police would have a much easier job. Until then while we so called law abiding citizens make easy targets they will continue to take the path of least resistance. AKA busting mine and your butts. My 2 cents. |

O average import drivers do cause a large percentage of the infractions (Illegal lights, tip enlarged, etc...). I'm not an auto enthusiast because I advocate people obeying the law? Haha, you're a funny little boy.
And I've NEVER hit the red line in my Eclipse. Hell, since I only drive it in the winter I don't think it's been above 4000RPM. Why? because I drive responsibly. If I want to race it, there's a track in the summertime. Otherwise, I just drive like a normal driver should, defensively, so I don't get hit by some retard driving his mom's car and not even insured.
It's an ignorant attitude like yours that gets the sport compact crowd a bad name, probably claiming the cops pulled you over for "no reason" when you have your blue headlights and riced out shit. |

:mellow: this is gonna get ugly...everyone here have their or own experiences and shit..so I guess i'm gonna put my 2 cents in...yes some EPS are dicks and I have experience a few and some that I have talked to are pretty laid back..for one instance at movies 12 in clairview( not so expensive theatre) I didn't notice the cop inside but I accidentally revved my enginewhile the cop was watching me and I almost shitted my pants and thought he was gonna ticket me for my muffler, it's resonated by the way, and when I parked and went inside, the cop actually commented how nice the sound of my muffler was :dunno:
so my friend and I and the cop actually shoot the shit for a while talking about cars and the import scene..
maybe some just don't undertstand the hole import culture scene and they just see it as a nuisance to society and knowing with all these drive by shootings and they point the finger to the import scene..I mean how many young kids they see driving eclipse, civics,nissans and afford to make it stand out from the rest?..they assume all the money that goes into the car is DRUG money and eventually link to the gangs stuff...
some are just doing there job and some are pricks and some can be nice...
I dunno, we all rant when we get caught with something illigal to our cars...so I guess is keep it clean,simple and safe and maybe keep the UFO lights down low -_- ...sorry for the long post |

At first i wasnt being a dick to the guy, he runs to my car and the first thing he does is check my window tint which isent even dark at all, he isent even concerned wheather or not my cars insured and leagl on the road, now thats ignorant!.

Haha, of course I'm not perfect. I give in too once in awhile - but still never took it above 4K RPM's that time.
HKS - I just hold a different opinion on cops than most maybe - I've never run into a bad one anytime I've been pulled over. I even had one follow me into a gas station to check under the hood of my summer ride.
I've seen them tail me and run my plates while watching for an infraction, but never pull me over. In fact, I've never been pulled over for a bullshit reason, so maybe I don't see where the fuss comes from. |
