A couple of months back I got a bad speeding ticket. I was on a on ramp that runs parallel with hwy 14 for about a half a klick or so. The limit there is 70 merging onto a 100. I opened up my car here and was caught doing 134 in a 70 :tear:

The fine was going to be a suspension ofcourse, a $1000 fine and 8 points. I went to "Got A Ticket, Fight It" Here in the park. I dealt with Randy Semeniuk. He had it reduced to a $300 dollar ticket and 4 points. With those 4 points I am back to square one. I did have 8 points against me, 4 were just dropped due to time, so I am back to 8. Insurance should stay the same.

Now I also here taking a defensive driving course will deduct a few points off your record. Any truth to this? Hopefully at my next renewel I could save some money.

Taking a "Defensive Driving Course" will take away demerit points to a maximum of 3 once every 2 years.

One thing that everyone should be aware of ... even though demerit points are removed from your driver's abstract after 2 years (& the ticket will leave a year after that) the tickets & demerit points stay on your MVB account. I for instance have a ticket still showing that I rec'd & paid back in April of 1989; however, it's no longer on my abstract.

Im just concered about demerits affecting my insurance. Will demerits still affect my insurance 2 years after the fact, after they have been removed from my abstract.

Heh, I got ticketed on hyw 14 off ramp just off of the mud last summer, I was over 120 when I seen the trap up a head and slammed on the brakes. The cop was pretty cool and asked what the hurry was, and only gave me an 85 in a 70 zone, and a warning on tint.

You have to check the bridge deck before you go down the off ramp to see if they have radar set up!
