what is the best engine in your opinon - Click HERE for Original Thread

Drifted
here is a new topic lets keep it clean and bring out the technobable

creAtivehater
Ill play a little nicer but i bet you think the 2.5 turbo dodge is the best eh loser :gay:

PuffCookie
For what? A formula 1 motor won't pull a car trailer. A 1000cc motorbike engine won't work in a daily driven car...

cua0
best engine for what? drag racing? auto crossing? oval track racing? pulling a trailor? mudboggin' ? gas mileage?

there are too many engines that specialize in different things, best engine i could cram into my car? probably a b18b or a b18c, or maybe a 350 chevy smallblock...

edit - damnit. treed by dave!

high school
2.4 ecotec :P

Drifted

haha sport compact guys, i wouldnt call the skyline a compact.

now do you want ane ngine easy to mod like an sr20de not the turbo? or something like a b18c5?

mikethestranger
i don't know much about engines, but from the little knowledge i know.....i would have to second what cesar and andrew said.......2.4 EcoTec

high school
i figured that RB26 was from a skyline... import engines and their weird names

RB26DETT stands for: RB = Race Breed / 26 = Engine capacity to the nearest litre; 20, 25, 26 and 28 are used / D = Dual overhead cam / E = Fuel injected / TT = Twin turbo

same goes for the RB20DET, and RB25DET....except they are single turbo

the letters indicate the engine family, in 2JZ-GTE the family is JZ.
The number(s) at the beginning is the number of the are for a certain
bottom end version (block, bore, stroke). The larger the number,
the newer the bottom end version. It may seem like the larger the
number, the larger the displacement but this is not always true.
AFTER "-":

G = twin cam (wide angle, 45 degrees or more between the intake and exhaust valves)
T = turbocharged
E = fuel injection

found my own answer...

i'm suprised nobody has mentioned the subaru or porsche engines..

i like the WRX STi motor, very nice horizontally opposed 4 cylinder engine that produces 300hp & 300lb/ft

silverTEG
the 4G63 is impressive as are the 2JZ and the RB26DETT. but im kinda partial to the K20C.

its a good engine BUT it will NEVER be able to handle the kind of power the RB26DETT and 2JZ-GTE engine can......those two mentioned engines STOCK are good to about 600hp with no internal mods!!!!!

S

Drifted
tell me what makes thoes engines so good... give more info. but it is comming just fine :D

sick bastard :P

I am not sure of the specific reason why but the twp aformentioned engines can are built very very well and are super strong for a STOCK engine. Like I said thise engines can handle about 600HP with stock internals and just mods to injectors and fuel etc. with internal mods the engines can handle in EXCESS of 1000HP.......

S

Pro Drag
The 4G63 has been proven to handle 550 HP on stock internals.

I would rank an engine based on HP/Litre with stock internals.

gtfiero86
How about an r26b 4 rotor, out of the lemans winning 787b, if you could only find one 1 think id be happy with 700 hp on tap. :D

Drifted
hp per leter eh .... well the s2000 has 240 out of its 2.2 right . but with the atlantic series toyota engines (btw are 20valve 4ags) they make 270 na hp out of 1.6 l.
i wouldent have mentioned due to it being a race only engine .but unlike f1 the engines can be copied and be placed in a ae86  .

s2000s have 2.0L dont they

silverTEG
the s2000 is 120hp/L. the k20C is a 2L engine with 240 hp. up until this year.

high school
i read that s2000s put out 120hp/litre... and that came from a guy who owned one, altho he might not know shit all, so its hard to say. But with the vtec im pretty sure they are 2.0 240HP

rhy001
all s2000 from 2000-2003 have 2.0l that produces 240hp however the new 2004 s2000 will come with 2.2l with the same 240hp

Drifted
i was refeing to the 04's iwas talking to a guy in town that got his wed. its that kick ass metalic yellow. he through winter grips on it yesterday and drives it all year :tear: .

Drifted

DeathBy240
Nope, it never went in a Datsun. It was put in the R30 Skylines and the S110 Silvias.

cua0
well, you learn something new every day..

but like you asked, it was just a guess without using google.

DeathBy240

cua0
i like old air cooled vw horizontally opposed engines.

Redlyne_mr2
You guys forgot about the 3sgte huge power potential and its extremely light..its used in all the jgtc supras, mr2's etc...the 4age is an awesome na engine kicks ass

NISMO SE-R
C'mon guys, you're all forgetting about the QR25DE found in the new SE-R's!!! It can burn oil well into 20k, and has an enormous 150whp (if you're lucky) from a 2.5L engine!!! Don't forget about those internals busting if you boost past 250whp...just ask meyers, they're the best Nissan powerplant!!
