skyline????????
huh??????

ALIAS81
correct me if im wrong, but is the supra an AUTO?!!??

superpirate25
It's obviously set up as a drag car, why is it so surprising that it's an auto?

SplineZ
Heh, automatics are more consistant than manual transmissions with high power.. You dont have to worry about missing a shift and destroying the engine, or grinding into gear and blowing the transmission.. and afaik, your boost doesnt drop for a split second between shifts allowing you to keep full boost for as long as your going..

THey are probably going to drop in an RB26DETT in there (same as the Skyline GTR). Also, the G35coupe is called a Skyline in Japan i beleive, so I guess they are kinda taking the name because the 350Z is the same chasis. Probably more so, cause I forsee them using an RB26 in there. Big power.

with really big power hp cars a lot of them will be automatic, the only difference is they got really nice tq converters in them so it prevents the large drivetrain loss :)

When I talked to him about the car they were unsure what tranny they were going to use....manual or auto. They needed a proven tranny.....that's why they ultimately decided to not use the V6/6speed combo that came stock in the car.
The car had 534 miles on it when they started pulling it apart. Luckily I was the first guy to talk to him after they decided not to use the stock motor.....and I managed to pick it up for cheap....complete with all accessories. They are planning the Rb26 motor swap with around 1000 hp on tap. B)

C'mon now 14.0 should be realistic with that car around here. I ran a best of 14.5 with my sedan at the last track event at Bud Park.

While it is most probably an auto, do you guys think it might be a sequential 6 speed? I don't know if these would be super apropriate for the strip but they seem to work on a road course.

I think it's actually a rally car!

Ummmm, well more than likely the car is running a 3 or 4 speed gearbox for the strip. I can't remember what exactly they call these style at the moment. It works like a sequential, but you shift by pulling a different lever each time.

High HP car probably a powerglide .... 2 gears .. fast and faster ...
