just a quick question here, is the redlight camera facing the southbound traffic or northbound? that's the traffic light before the short tunnel right (if going south)?

i think i ran a redlight (going south bound) because i coulnd't stop on the yellow. the road before the stop light was bumpy so i gunned it and don't know if i made it before the red. dang!

MightyMidget
the red light camera is for Southbound traffic......to the best of my knowledge

If you didn't see a flash, you should have nothing to worry about. That corner has low friction, you probably made the right choice.

this has nothing to do with your question, but just wanted to put in my two cents...

i was told that it counts your speed over the markers on the ground. if you are going faster then 25km/h then there is NO way you could of stoped.

i got a ticket in the summer on Japser and 116, in court they said I was going 26km/h and to top it off I was making a right hand turn ! ! ! (1mns13) I was driving the "land yat" at the time - there is NO way that car can do 25km/h around the corner.

can you say "CASH COW"

those dam things are "red light camera's" but they do not watch to see if you stoped or even "tried" to stop they just watch your speed ! ! ! something else and I've even try this when the light is green, you could stop for your full 5 seconds (or what ever it is) before the makers then (look both ways) and take off and in most of the cars people drive on this board you could be doing more then 25km/h around the corner in that short time and guess what - you would be getting a ticket

sorry - just my two bittsss

yeah i'm thinking if i stopped too fast the guy behind me could've rear ended me and i would just skid because i have winter tires right now and will end up in the center of the intersection anyways. they are not much for grip during dry pavements. i'll rather pay a ticket than feel pain that could have avoided for a little price. i did try to look behind but didn't know where the flash or camera was so i didn't know if there was a flash or not.

i do believe that these are just cash cows. i'n not hating or anything but i think they will just cause more accidents. this is basically true during those cold winter days where the roads are slick. people will be avoiding this red lights and will skid everywhere ending up in an accident. if they do have winter tires + studs, they will probably stop but what if somebody is behind them that is not appropriately geared up for winter, they will slide and rear end the guy in front. this is base on my real experience, i got rear ended because the guy behind couldn't stop.

people, including me, would say photoradar are cash cows but in a way they do help deter speeders. i for one slows down if i know that there is a photoradar around. maybe this red lights will be helpful too but it should be according to the season. summer will be fine but winter is a big no no especially when snowing.

to help people stop accordingly with enough time depending on the season they should install those count down type pedestrian walk signs like in downtown (i don't know what they call them). i know this will lessen the revenue for the red light cameras (cash cows) but will be very functional for everybody. besides aren't we aiming for safer roads anyway?

just my 2 cents

I hear that if you drive really slow you can run the red light and it wont take a picture

(edit) but dont do it, running red lights are bad mmmkay?(/edit)

there isn't always a camera in it. They only have about half as many cameras as there are setups for them. The alternate them. I/ve been flashed near WEM and never got a ticket. They do the same thing in Calgary. My Aunt work for the roads department of the city.

Lets think about what you said for a moment. Drive through a red light real slow to avoid a ticket, but the guy who has the green light won't realize what I am doing and the ensuing collision will cause damage to both vehicles and possible injury.
