Hey guys,
I need to fix my stock ground system.
I dont want to purchase a hyper-wire ground kit as its a waste of cash.
We can custom build one easily but I dont know anyone with a heated space.
This may also be part of the issue as i get a little thump from my subs when i start the car. And sometimes a huge one (that hurts my ears) when the car is already running and i turn on the stereo. The cap has fixed a little of this issue.
I cant get into certified for Dope88 to help me out as they have been slam packed the last month.
Anyone wana help me out, I dont have many tools as im not a car guy. I will buy beer and pizza and the nessessary parts.
I just need somone to hold my hand :D
I think the ground wire kit will help out a little bit. I can't do any more to the ride untill i get this power issue under wraps.

Magnum made his own... with pretty simple measurements, you could probly make it in your kitchen with a small torch, solder, terminals, shrink tubing, and low gauge wire :)
Instead of using a tape measure to find out how long each wire should be.. get some lengths of rope, and lay them down where you want the wires to go.. Cut the peices to legnth, and then take'em inside where its warm to fabricate.
as for install.. I couldnt help ya.. i dun have any heated space :( god knows i'd spend my time in there fixing my car ahah..

hell ya, am intersted, we can make a night of it.
The ride is a mazda 2002 protege 5, black.
I dont got much for tools, what will we need?
Sockets, screw drivers etc?
There is some 4g wire left from my early attempts. I can pickup some more Saturday.
I was thinking 4g to distro block then out from there. Any objections?
Perhaps next week would be ok.

You will need a cordless drill with a wirewheel to brush the paint off your ground point.
A Socket Set.. Metric and SAE
A Screw driver set.
If the wires are precut, soldered and sealed up then that is all you should need..
You will probly want to find a pretty substantial peice of your car to fasten the ground to. Sheet metal kinda sucks..... use a stainless bolt if you have to so that it never corrodes.. and stainless/gold contacts to that point.. brass/copper would corrode and cause grounding problems eventually..... (unless its sealed)

Here's a suggestion - downtown parkades don't do security checks, so pay the $5 and stay in there all night. They are heated, the one I usually go to must be an easy 10 Celsius.
And since they don't monitor/patrol the parkade, ya got nothing to worry about.
This may be the best option, as people who have underground parking at apartments, etc... probably have clauses in their condo association that prohibit them from working on their cars in the parkade. All it takes is one bitchy neighbour (And you'd probably feel pretty bad if your buddy got in deep shit over it).
The only downside is no power outlets, but I'm sure most underground parkades would be the same way? |

| half of my parkade is impark and the other is the tenants parking. so there is no problems. |

If you don't want to spend lots of $$$ on 4 gauge from an audio shop your local welding shop would be happy to sell you some 4 gauge for 75 cents a foot. |

next to bad grounding the thump can be caused by ur amp not having a delay (most of em do)
but theres "turn on delay" modules u can buy
i cnat relaly help much but u could use my heated garage if u neeed

I am going to pickup a distro block this week, and some more 4g wire.
Perhaps wednesday will be the day. I will also attempt more picures if light permits.
I just have to get in touch with Dylan now :D
Jamez, the wires are not pre soldered, i have to cut them to length. I tried to solder some with my gun but the job sucked ass. I think a blow torch is needed to heat the whole end so the solder goes inside.
We will see i guess.
