An accident at 82 and 83? Was that the bonehead in the Jeep Grand Cherokee?
Okay, what follows happened in just a few seconds, but it takes a while to explain it. At about 8 this morning, I'm northbound in the right lane at 82Ave and 83st (southeast corner of Bonnie Doon Mall). I'm behind a bus (one of the faster newer ones) and a Volvo station wagon (the slowest thing on the roads, not because of the car, but because of the typical Volvo driver, but that's another story).
Anyways, our light goes green. Everybody in the left lane goes, the bus in front of me goes, the Volvo takes his merry ol' time.
There's already 2 buses at the bus stop just north of the intersection, so this 3rd bus pulls up, but he can't get in flush to the curb. His back end is sticking out.
There's westbound cars waiting to turn right, waiting for this bus to pass. The bus gets out of their way. The first guy sees the big gap (because this Volvo in front of me is so slow), so he boots it out into our lane, headed north.
The guy behind the first guy is in a Jeep Grand Cherokee. He ASSUMES that because the guy in front of him can go, that he can go too. He starts to boot out into our lane. But, now the Volvo has managed to get there. The Grand Cherokee sees him, hits the brakes, and starts to slide. He realizes he won't be able to stop in time, so he cranks the wheel to the right to avoid the collision.
He slams right into the back left corner of the stopped bus!! I watched this idiot do this from start to finish, and I knew he was going to do that. Not a thing I could do about it. He bashed up his Jeep pretty good. What a moron! |
