| If a guy was to throw nitrous on to a car is there a magic nuber that is save to run it at before you have to beef up the whole engin? I heard a "75 shot" is pretty tame and any higher you have to make sure all your different parts can handle it. If nitrous goes on a car do you need a inter cooler or is that just for turbos? let me know whats the way to go here. |

Depends what kind of car. Wet or Dry? Rated at wheels or flywheel? You MAY need a retardable ignition(MSD DIS2), colder plugs, FPR, clutch. If nothing else, defintely colder plugs. A 50 shot is generally safe on most cars, a 75 is pushing it on some and safe on many. It really depends how you set it up/ tune it.
So, what kind of car? Which kit? |

| I don't how serious I am about putting it on my '95 Sunfire Gt but, if all I have to do is buy the kit and do install maybe. If I need to totaly build up everything front to back then no. A fifty shot does what 50 hp give or take? Whats the differance between Wet and Dry and which is considered better? For you guys who have put on Nitrous what are the pros and cons and when everything is all said and done what was the bottom line? |

the dry kits are alot cheeper and still do the job.

| ya man...get a 50 shot of dry nitrous (NOS,NX) its all good plus you only gotta do a few minor mods compared to a 75 shot of a wet application of nitrous |

| When doing a dry set up what kind of mods whould have to be done? What parts of the engin does this affect? Does the dry get sprayed in to your air intake? I'm pretty new in this area so this is just stuff I have seen and heared here and there. Would it also help to get a new air intake? |

Well if the engine can't handle another 35 or 40 hp that a "50" shot will give, it deserves to die anyways!
Honestly though, listen to DJ Shortys. He tried to blow his engine up MANY times! |

For a 50 shot on a Sunfire GT (I researched this, I have a z24) you only need colder plugs. Be prepared to buy a new clutch within a year or so depending on how old your clutch is now and how much you use your nitrous. If you want to be safer get the MSD anyway. Also, I really reccomend getting an RPM window switch because if you hit the rev limiter with nitrous, say goodbye to your engine. IMO the best kit to get is the Nitrous Express. It is a wet kit and rated at the wheels for hp increase. Wet kits inject fuel and nitrous at the same time, decreasing the chance of leaning out while spraying.
A SRI is a good idea. Both wet and dry spray into the intake. Your car should have no problems on a 50 shot. How many km's do you have on your car? |

If you are asking this question - get it installed professionally. That way, you know it's done right. Most reputable shops does these type of installs a couple times a week, and know everything you need and how to install it. They will also talk to you about bottle warmers, etc....
As to answer your next question - as everyone said, it depends on your car. A lot of imports nowadays run higher compression as it is, so they couldn't handle a big shot. And on the flipside, a magazine tested a 71 Chev. small block and got it up to a 425HP shot before it blew apart (Probably had 8.5:1 compression).
Another tip - make sure to run premium as well if you're spraying. |

| I don't think at any point was there a chance I would have tried to install this myself, I'd still like to be able to drive my car after. The car it's self has 143000k on it, I don't think it was driven too hard. I bought it off a mom with two kids, so I don't think she was running it full out. She said it also sat in the garage for a year they use her husbands company truck. I think it would have lower ks on it but they drove it to cow town a couple of times and out to the west coast too. How come I would need colder plugs if I'm burning fuel and nitrous? Isn't a new clutch like a couple of grand to put in? |

i don't think it's that much, i got a new tranny and clutch installed for $1400, parts and labour. it was about $450 in labour. don't know much about sunfire's
when you replace it, you'll wanna replace it with a stonger aftermarket one that can handle the extra horses. |

You got a brand NEW TRANNY and CLUTCH for $1400? brand new or used? that seems rather cheap if they were new. |
