WOT until you hit the speed limit? Read it in another forum that it is possible to get a ticket if your abrupt acceleration causes others to look in your direction. It's called "stunting" and fine is roughly $400 and 6 demerit points. I've always wondered if you can get a ticket for this and apparently, you can and the penalty is severe.

WookeysRX7
i too would also like to know. i've thought about this one many times!

scooby_dooby
cops can give you stunting ticket for just about anything they want. I got threated with one for revving my engine.

WookeysRX7
really? heh thats just plane stupid. What would that ticket fall under? Not stunting is it?

djshortys
cops and there gay laws.....

Again opinionative laws suck! I believe they can give you a stunting ticket for anything that causes a distraction.

WookeysRX7

One time i was pulled over in my friend's car for accelerating to the speed limit. My friend asked the officer if he was serious and the cop said he'd let us go with a warning. The funniest part was that he asked us at first
"whats the rush, are you hunnngrrrryyy" while shining the light in our eyes. He wanted to see if we were stoned, which we weren't. Told us to drive slower to the speed limit next time.

Keith303
whenever I accel quick to the speed limit I always wonder how police would precieve that, now if it was a soccer mom is a mini van a cop wouldnt give 2 shits.

not to mention that minivan hasto work alot harder to get going fast then most peoples dun up ride on this forum, that just means that shes going way outa her way to juice it, compaired to a 300hp car that accels to the speed limit like nothing.

Police are basically car "Racists" sometimes I wish I had a rusted mini-van because the ages of vehical oppression are upon us

think it depends on the cop....but punching it offthe line to the speed limit is what they call racing

bahahah!! omg i'd kill to hear that :D KILL! ahahah

but yes, cops can ding you for anything they deem a "distraction" their ticket of choice? stunting..

unfortunatly its got HUGE HUGE repercusions... 6 dimerits or something... and your insurance company will likely not reinsure you..

I'd fight ANY stunting ticket recieved.. chances are it will get reduced to something else.

Not jacking your thread here but I had a cop ask me and a friend if we were "looking at titties". At the time, we were cutting through downtown,
understandable considering the area. Needless to say we had a good laugh, those cops were cool.

You can be chargedfor stunting for just about anything that
causes distraction or undue attention to your vehicle.
i found this out with my underbody neon....according to the crown

"a girl in a bikini driving a jeep , could be charged with stunting!"
so i asked if someone looking would be charged with driving with undue
care and attention? he asked if i was being a smart ass?

Wow, that's bullshit. What about people who drive Ferrari's and Lambo's? Can they be charged for "stunting" becaue they have nice cars that people will stare at and cause a distraction? The times I've driven around in Diablo, it's not even funny how people lose track of the road ahead.

Anyhow, I have an AEM CAI and when I cross over to V-tec and pull to 9000rpm's, it sounds real, REAL nice but it does attract unneccessary attention from others.
If I ever get a ticket for "enjoying my car", I'm fighting it fo sho! Matter fact, I think Cops should be charged for stunting whenever they turn on the cherries just to run through traffic jams.

Re:cops and their gay laws, the last time I checked cops didn't make the laws just enforce them. If laws are open to interpretation they are open to abuse, but how far do we want to go in the specifics of the law.

Re:s2000 if you're going to 9000 rpm I'm sure stunting would be just one of the things you could be charged with.

actually racing is defined as a contest of speed.
