More like return of LoTR: Twin Towers.
I got some preview tickets from MasterV and saw the movie today with my gf....and all I got to say is that it isn't worth the money.
the movie consists of approx 6 scenes that each span across a time period of 30-45 minutes. That is what it felt like.
The battle scenes were just a "copy & paste" from LoTR Two Towers but with different people and graphics. The idea & battle tactics is practically verbatim.
Only about 2-3 new battle strategies/units were introduced. It was very shallow too, little to no elaboration of the new units/strategies, just a few quick scenes and action shots.
Overall, I wouldn't pay $15 to see it...even $8 at the downtown Cineplex isn't worth it (or whatever they charge).
Dollar theater at WEM? Sure.
Buy it on DVD? Only if you want to complete your collection.
Maybe I don't know how to appreciate the artistic talent that was put into this movie (though I must admit, there were a few good shots/scenes/artsyfartsy bits), but maybe it's just me :P

Meh, that's the problem with hotly-anticipated third installments of popular trilogies. If the audience doesn't have a full out orgasm at the end, they're disappointed
You're entitled to your opinion though, Reflux, and its a valid complaint. :)

i have yet to see the 3rd installment but the fellowship was written in series of parts scattered everywhere. There are many other characters in the books that were never intro'd in the movie to reduce the confusion between characters.
I think the 1st and 2nd ones were done great in telling the story. Theres just so much going on at one time and there is no central charcater, so the story is difficult to put on screen.
I think jackson did a pretty good job so far |

| Blasphemy! I really wasn't expecting to hear a bad review. They've been my favorite movies of all time so far. Even if it is copy and paste from the first two, I'm pretty sure I'll still enjoy it. |

I agree! An absolutely stunning movie. Easily the best movie of the year. There were some plot gaps but thats to be expected since it was a six hour movie cut down to three and a half.
Sorry to hear it was lost on some. |

| I saw it at the midnight screening, the audience was all intense into it (which added alot to the drama/emotional scenes). Only problem I had was Gandalf beating up Denethor, Sam leaving Frodo, and Gandalf riding out to the fields with Pipin. Everything else was great :D |

Ugh.. heh. I hurts to see somebody say that they didn't like the ROTK.
I think that the battle scenes were totally different than TT. The uruk hai had crazy siege towers, catapualts, and more that was not in TT.
I do, however, think that as a whole, the trilogy was excellent, and I think that ROTK was a great closing to the first two movies. But, to look at them as seperate movies, I think I liked the Extended version of Fellowship the best of all three. :) |

| Great movie until the extended endings. Enough already. Finish it clean and quick. That's it, that's all. |

Uh, yeah... I forgot about that. The 25 minute ending was a bit much. Good call. |
