I just use a very good plate cover.
I guess I should keep it when I come to Edmonton :)
How many cameras do you guys have? Any laser being used?

The cops are pretty anal about plate covers... i saw a guy in a mcdonalds parking lot get spoken to because of his plate cover... they told him to take it off on the spot, or get a ticket :)
Our city (including st.albert) i think is known as the "radar capitol' of canada.. radar is everywhere.... laser is used where photo isnt.. I havent seen a police man with a real radar gun lately.. except when he's driving.. Every "sting" they setup uses laser nowadays...

Ya St. Albert's photoradar is out everyday all day. I have seen them out as late as 11:00 pm. One thing I have noticed though is the vehicles are sitting more out in the open now. I remember reading an article in the paper how the city was getting alot of complaints how the vehicles were hiding, but like I said they seem to be sitting out in the open now. Which I agree with....you see the vans sitting out that will reduce speed....which isnt that supposed to be the intention of photoradar.
I have seen the plate covers that you cant read the plate from an angle....they do work...but you can spot them a mile away so theres no stealth on them at all. But I dont know about the spray.....couldnt you spray it on.....walk like 20 feet away with a camera and take a pic to see if it really works??? I heard all it is, is clearcoat....you can buy a can of that at cdn tire for like 4 bucks. |

Hey;
I was on my way home from work yesterday at ~ 10:20AM heading into St. Albert on 170th St. They hide the blazer right at the edge of St. Albert at Lavasuer Rd behind a sign. I was pretty tired (after working 12 hours through the night) and I didn't see the blazer until I was just in front of it. I had to jam on the brakes, abs kicked in. haha. It was horrible. I didn't see a flash, but I am not totally sure if they need to flash during day times, can anybody confirm this?
I sure hope I didn't get a ticket, cuz it might be a hefty one. :( |

This is exactly why photo can be a bad thing.
Someone else like yourself, who was tired, could have plowed right through you. All because of the van.
I'm all for no demerits for speeding violations, and I'd rather have photo than laser for that reason. But that reason alone. |
