Hey all
Ok, here's the nitty gritty: Yes, I have been reading Maximum Boost (but I'm not done yet) :P
I've been speaking to a person who created a half custom/half ghetto turbo setup for a 94 Grand Prix GTP - the same body code/engine as my Lumina, just with subtle styling differences.
Now, about his turbo setup - he used a Toyota CT26 turbo sourced from an early single turbo Supra. Now, he didn't know anything about it other than that; I'm curious to know if it is a T3/T4, etc. I haven't been able to find any information on the web, and was hoping you guys could help me out.
I'm really excited about the possibilities for my car if I can replicate his setup - although I retain a healthy skeptiscism! Best of all, it cost him $1200 US for all the ghetto parts, so I'm hoping to replicate it for under $5000 CAD with some new parts :fingersx: The car is dyno'd for 303 HP/293 ft/lbs and is still a reliable daily driver.
Thanks for any info you might have!

You might want to contact West Coast Fiero's. Chris West's Fiero was almost put in Sport Compacts, ultimate street car challenge. (it was one of the eligable cars). He's Pushing quite close to 400HP out of his engine, and from what I gather form the picture below, its not THAT heavily modified. Mind you the aftermarket on your particular engine is... shall we say limited :) Anything that you will need to have done, will have to be custom. Any info you need could probly be found on your typical W-body (www.clubgp.com) and Fiero forums (www.fiero.nl).. and dont forget http://www.60degreev6.com !
This is all I could only find this on his car

| yes it is very feesable to turbo your engine...... my buddy has one. he used a '90 rx7 factory turbo with a hybrid compressor. read as a t3/t4 hybrid only cheaper. and runs at 7lbs boost. this is in a 88 fiero with a 3.4 quad cam and a four speed. he has programed his own custon chip for the computor and has what i call a hacked ecu so he can program the chip from his computor and make changes as required. he used the basic GM factory computor from a 88/89? turbo grand prix and then reprogramed it to run the fuel and spark curve he needed. he is putting out somewhere over 325 hp. he is runnig it with small intercooler and it is all custom made. i havent been able to find the web address for his site but ill post it when i call him. if your serious about doing this....read have money do build it... call me and i will put you in contact with him. you will need to spend a fair bit of cash cause everthing was custom made by hand ie manifolds, intake piping, etc. your car will be quite the sleeper if you were to go through with it. thanks conroy i pm'd you my pnone number. |

Thanks guys! 60V6 is where I found this guy, in fact. :)
I know this project is going to be hugely expensive and has a good possibility to become a "black hole". I've had people on other forums just ask why didn't I choose a car that was easier to build up - but we're all car guys here, you know that sometimes logic doesn't play a real big part of our purchases
That $5000 was just for fabrication of the turbo setup, battery/washer resevoir relocation, labour, misc. cost, etc. I know I'll need to spend at least that much again for exhaust upgrades and an upgrade to a Bulletproof 4T65-HD (damn Hydramatic! So weak! )
Thanks for the info guys! Keep it coming if you have anything more!

Your 4T60 should handle 300HP if your not too tough on it. I think GM names all their automatics "Hydramatics" :)

I was just about to post the same info :)
The car is VERY quick. At least as fast as my RX-7. He is using my stock FD intercooler, but is not going to be using a Supra front mount, installed in the trunk with appropriate ducting necessary to make it functional.
The car is quite the sleeper.
I would say 325 rwhp is being VERY conservative.
