so go pay my buslane ticket at the courts. well, actually i went to fight it, the prosecutor said that there is no way i would win as i admitted to not turning on my original intersection. ( i had this topic describing what happened to me in early November - "I hate the F*cking cops in this city" I think it was called)
so he was nice enough to get the demerits taken off but he told me the charge on the cash of $172 had to stay then. i was like fine. better save on insurance over time than bitch about the money now.
so on my way back to work, i parked near the Wendy's behind the U of A. Infront of a stop sign. I was about a meter away from it (thinking this was sufficient ) i then proceeded to work.
I came back to a $50 ticket from the city!!
so in trying to save $16 in parking at Stadium i got nailed with $172 from my bus lane ticket from trying to park near whyte ave to catch a bus to the U of A, and $50 for parking too close to the Stop sign, again trying to save money by walking to my work.
i know , i know, you guys will be like , ".....you did the crime and pay the piper..." whatever the F#ck....but i am a carefull driver and i dont drink and drive and i dont speed. I got T-boned earlier this month with no fault to me cuz the lady was following too close when i got rammed on my passenger side.
i hate this shit...i am just gonna take the bus from now on. driving in this city is such a hassle cuz it seems that you have to carry the law book from the Queen's Press with you everywhere you go in this city.
earlier in the year i got busted for having pink lights on my car. i fought this one too and reduced a $100 ticket to $30. man i hate edmonton. all that cocky cope had to do was listen to me for a sec and wouldnt have had to pay this ticket.
Merry X-mas and Happy New Year Everyone.

Here is a link to the "Driver's Handbook" that all of us read (or were supposed to read) prior to getting our driver's license.

If you check out page 66 you will notice it says the proper distances you must park away from certain objects such as traffic signs, hydrants etc. Granted I know we can't all remember exact distances (5 metres for this, 150 metres for that, etc) but I think a little bit of common sense should tell someone that 1 metre from a stop sign is too close. I'm sure when someone blew the stop sign & smashed into a car full of kids, they would use the excuse that someone parked too close to the stop sign so they couldn't see it (not much common sense there either).
See how common sense (or the lack thereof) gets us into trouble.

-I've met a few cops that think that if you break the law, that you should be punished no matter what. Like if you jay walk in a deserted residential area, you shoul be fined, even if it was safe to do so. I don't agree with this, but they have the power to throw the book at you if they want. (quote: "As far as I'm concerned they shouldn't even have traffic court, because if I gave you a ticket, you're guilty")
-Cops are lied to every day and aren't usually in the mood to listen to your excuses.
-If you want someone to blame for your tickets, look in the mirror. |

I couldn't agree more, or have said it any better!
I have a few friend that are cops and I have total respect for them and the job they do. I think it is so rude and sterotypical of you to say "I hate cops". And the funny thing is they have to work with and help arogent and unapreachiative people like you all day, and still find some satisfaction in there job. Grow up! |

| Well im gonna stick up for this guy a bit. Yes.. he knows he was in the wrong.. but I also understand where hes coming from. He just wishes the cops would be a little nicer in some respects and give him a break sometimes. Im sure he doesnt hate every cop and that right now.. hes just pissed off. Really, I totally understand where he is coming from. Im still in the latest parts of my struggle with cops.. the only left is my courst date in late march, and that is after a huge series of problems ive had that have really made me pissed off a cops myself. |

Yeah, but you can't expect the cops to be nicer when you go ahead and do something illegal and KNOW that you are doing it.
Think of it this way. How many times did you park illegally, or drive in the bus lane or speed or make an illegal lane change etc, and DIDN'T get caught??? A few times right? To me, the cops were being very nice in not giving you a ticket those times. So don't think that they are ALWAYS riding your ass, cause they are not. You just did something, and got caught, like one would expect.
Don't just think of all the bad. Think of all the freebies you might have gotten that you don't even know about. |
