This is pretty new to the public market but does anyone know anyone that has used or seen this product first hand? It seems pretty cool and he carrys some good respect with the Z'ers south of the border.
Anyone interested in trying to get a group buy together? I am thinking somewhere closer to end of Feb/March, no point in buying yet and having it sit and collect dust. The price might drop or a version change might happen between now and then.

| So what exactly is this thing? Just a datalogger, or a piggyback system, or an actual standalone? |

He describes it as "This device emulates (or, 'acts like') the EPROM. To the ECU, there is simply an EPROM in the socket. However, to the user, it is an active piece of hardware that allows real-time manupilation of the data contained within."
So you get to manipulate the air/fuel ratios /rpm.
I guess it's kinda like a piggyback, since I believe it uses the stock computer, but since you get to control the whole thing, it's kinda standalone. From what I've seen, Ash seems to know what he's doing. |

The way I understand it is that you pop out your EPROM from you ECU and plug in a cable in its place then to the emulator box. From there all of you engine and ECU management is controlled via a PC interface. A piggy back in a sense I suppose, there will still be a IC contained in the 'Emulator' that is storing the current data. There has to be non-volitle memory somewhere otherwise if you PC crashed or failed you'd be SOL on the side of the road pulling out your ECU to put in your spare EPROM! I assume you program what you want and then you can unplug you computer from it and drive or leave it on and monitor while racing etc..
Its not mearly a data logger or diag tool by their claims but a full on tunning system. Control timing, reconfigure for injector/turbo upgrades using permanent changes in real time! |

I'm not going to comment on Ash himself. His behaviour on tt.net speaks for itself.
But the product itself definately looks interesting. |

True enough, I got the impression from some of his posts that he thinks his sh#t doesn't stink but none the less not alot of negative comments about his work.
I am going to hold off until late Mar/Apr 'ish and maybe the price will drop some. That will also give some time for others to buy and state their opinions. This appeals to me more than the Conzult since you can actually tune with the device rather than just view only. |
