There was talk about doing a group build/work on car night, I assume it was at probetunerforlife's house (aka Dylan) as i believe he has the only heated location?
I assume the thread got lost in the shift to the new boards. IS anyone still up for this?
I am but my week is unknown at this time. Once i check out my work sched and find out when the rest of my hard wood is going in I will have a more stable date.
Anyone have some projected dates? I myself was looking at the evening of the 10th say at 5pm or so, so we can get some grub.

dylan and I are roommates, and yes we have a heated parkade
So lets get things figured out, who needs to do what, when is convient for anyone and everyone? etc
I believe crx is swapping his motor, so he can't bring the car here, unless he tows it, but I am more than willing to help if I can get to where he is.
Perhaps this is something that we could turn into a regular thing, ie mod night, once a month or something, lets get this figured out |

| Mod night once a month sounds like a tres cool idea... :) |

| I'd be up for watching and chillin.. but i'm not a very good mechanic. |

i do have a tow truck that i can use when ever i need to (i work for a transportation company) my only problem with moving the crx is if we don't get everything done and the car is in peices how do i move it back. when pulling the engine you have to remove the cv axles with the axles removed the car can not be moved without doing major harm to the wheel barings. so do i leave it in you place? i also need a engine hoist?
mod night once a month sounds like my idea but ever better hell yeah im in. agian i really think these get togethers could turn out to be a very good thing for everyone involved. i hope everyone had a good christmas brake. |

| Love the idea, we all know theres always work to be done. |

Xpnsve, this would be a great opportunity for you to learn what you want to know, and start working on cars, without worryin that something won't work when you are done. Along with anyone else who is interested in learning.
If we can get an early start on the crx, I am sure we could finish it, say start saturday morning, and work until its done. With enough help, say 4 or more ppl, we could pull the motor, tranny, etc, and swap in the new motor, in probably 4-6hours, assuming everything goes easily. We could do it no problem.
So I guess the real question is who needs what done to what cars?
I am doing extensive upgrades to my mx6, new suspension (springs, struts, strut mounts etc, new bushings, new tie rod ends, ball joints, turboing it, new exhaust, and redoing the entire interior. I need to reinstall my stereo after that
I also have a 86 mr2 that needs the brakes done all around, rotors, and pads, on top of a moajor tune up, and anything else I run into, haven't had enough time to look at it.
So lets get an idea of what needs to be done to whose car, and perhaps what everyone is capable of doing, whether mechanically, electrically or whatever, and perhaps an idea of any hookups for parts etc.
Dylan and I are both sheet metal workers, so if we need to fab up mounting brakets or anything that is possible, I am making myself a 2 1/4'' downpipe for my turbo among other things. |

With a CRX that needs an engine swap, an MX-6 that's basically being rebuilt and an MR2 that has a few to-do's as well....hopefully that will be enough work to spread into another weekend and more people can come!!!

| I have a feeling that is just the start of things, who else needs/wants to work on their cars, and would like help/company? |

| I need to redo all the bushings on my Accord...apparently the guy who did the inspection missed that part...hopefully that will cure my horrible rear wheel toe-in, I'm sliding all over the damn place! I won't have the bushings for awhile, though. I'm still up for helping out! |

I will be doing my drop on January 31st. I am quite confident that its not going to be a whole lot of work, and I have a few extra hands already, but I am sure whomever could drop by if they wanted.
I would do it in my own garage, but its not insulated or heated, so I will be doing it in a buddies garage. |

Are you dropping the truck or a different vehicle? |

There is a tun of work to do in this thread, lets keep some of the ones simple so we can all get together at Dylans, meet each other etc.
We will continue to work on the monthly thread and make some decisions.
Is everyone up for this weekend? 10th?
Dylans from Noon onwards, if Dylan and the roomate (sorry dont know your name) are ok with this as well. Whomever comes comes.
Plans? opinions?
I myself need to work on my hyper wire ground kit, should not be more than a couple of hours and is fairly simple. (also the good thing about dylans is A&B is just down the road, we can pickup audio gear there)

I would like to learn more about cars and I can help out where an extra set of hands are needed (not afraid to get dirty)So if you guys could let me know what you think I would like to come out on the 10th. thanks |

Is it easy? Everybody says its easy and the belltech spindles and blocks came with pretty cool instruction booklets. ;) |

A mechanic friend of mine and I did the suspension and sway bar all around with coils, shocks (no spindles, no blocks), leaf's, and totally rebuilt the front end (while it was apart) minus control arms, and steering column. Wow what a run-on!
All and all it took us about 7 hours of lazy, beer drinkin' fun, with lots of breaks. It wasnt very difficult, just patients with some old bolts you shouldnt need to worry about considering the year of your truck. The only Belltech product I used for this was the nitro drop-shocks, Cant imagine it will be that difficult though. |
