Custom Exhaust vs. Greddy - Click HERE for Original Thread

Quintessence
I'm wanting to get an exhaust system for my 1st gen Altima. Greddy discontinued manufacturing the SP1 for us and claims they will make an SP2 for the Altima, but it's taking forever and we haven't seen anything yet from them. Also, at minimum 550 USD plus shipping and brokerage/duty. I think I might go the custom route.

Would it be a cheaper to go custom? That is, welding together a bunch of 304 or 403 stainless steel mandrel bent pipes? I'm pretty sure using aluminized mandrel bent pipes would make it even less expensive.

In terms of quality, do u guys know of a muff. shop in Edmonton that will make one nearly as good as a Greddy? Here's some pics.

This is of a Greddy exhaust bolted together with a Hotshot Header.

I'm 99% sure that a high quality custom made exhaust will be cheaper than a GReddy one.

If you want a bit of "GReddy look" to it, pick up a GReddy muffler and have the shop weld it onto the custom piping!

Hey There,

Give us a call at Al's Auto Salvage. We can use your choice of aluminized mandrel bends to suit your needs, as well as order you a muffler of your choice. 447-3282 - ask for Neil. You can even come down and talk with us as well, and have a look at our projects currently underway. 20004-107Ave

Take care and keep it sideways!

Cory.

Remember, Greddy sound and fit is worth the cost to many people.

Pro-drag did my intercooler piping and they did a great job, and I know that they also do a lot for exhaust. They would be able to do pretty much whatever you want and for a pretty reasonable price. They also happen to be a Greddy Dealer, so give Blaine a call and see what he suggests.

ProDrag is not an official Greddy Dealer. And Don, did they fix that BOV flange that they welded. Cause it looked pretty ummmm, you know, the last time I saw it.

Sorry, David told me they were an official greddy dealer, so you can blame him. And yes that flange is a little fugly, but it will get cleaned it up when i take it back for powdercoating. It wasnt done cleanly at the time because the piping was being done late in the afternoon, the car still wasnt running, and I was planing on leaving for 3 months for Saskatchewan that night - with the car.

can your mandrel bend 3inch pipe?

I don't think anyone in this province has access to a mandrel bender for automotive use. I hear there are pipe manufacturing outfits that do it, but they won't do anything automotive related, just large thick heavy pipe. (Word of mouth info, not anything that I've witnessed or know firsthand)

We buy mandrel bends from an exhaust supply warehouse and weld pieces together. The pieces are aluminized and are the same quality (and thickness) material that regular exhaust shops use to build custom exhaust systems.

Give us a call or come on down and discuss what you want done, and we'll give you a quote on how much it will cost.

Take care,
Cory

i think greddy makes one of the best street legal exhaust systems out there.. heard they follow the db requirements and also last long
