Magnum's "Donate-A-Mod" Fund - Click HERE for Original Thread

REFLUX
This thread is to discuss an idea that Magnum brought up in the DIY Mod Meet thread.

The idea is to start at a $500/month pot (or more), donated by participating members. The money is to be put toward a selected member's car. Members & their car(s) will be chosen on monthly rotations.

Let's discuss this and check out the interest.

I think this is a great idea. I think it could go hand in hand with the monthly DIY meet. A chance to get parts you want, and have them installed. And a chance for everyone to learn things they don't know

I guess my involvement would depend on whatever minimum donation there is. Then I could start getting higher on SHIFT_AT_9000RPM's list! Whoo hoo!

alot of details need to be discussed before this is even considered...

how many ppl?
how much money?
club positions/management of money.. etc?
what happens if someone bails out..? (contract or something)
who actually can commit 100.00+ to the club a month? for as many months as there is cars?

just some points..

probetunerforlife
well this would be great but how could we stop guys from getting their parts on and then take off never to return. and rip all of us off. if we could prevent that im in forsure.

i think this would be taking the hobby to the next level .

the more i think about it the more i like it.

From the other thread, he has a good point.

Looking at it from a financial POV, it is basically "layaway"

The pot idea sounds cool, but it seems only benificial for the people first on the list. Otherwise John Doe puts 100 bucks a month in the pot for 6 months with 6 people donating 100 bucks each a month. And then his turn comes around and he gets 500 bucks (excluding his own monthly payment that month)? He could of just saved it up and bought it himself. Its just like a payment plan basically. Those who are first on the list get the item right away (is that the objective?), and slowly pay it off over the next 6 months. It doesnt make any sence, seems more practical to just save up yourself. Maybe I need to think this over again, haha, just doesnt make sense right now.

yeah, its just an idea...there are alot of bugs/problems with it that need to be worked out... but it makes it so that everyone can get together and install parts etc.. yeah, you could save it all yourself i guess, but everyone knows its easier to spend money then it is to save it...

and with people getting the mod done, then taking off.. thats why we need a contract of some sort...

the reason i havnt done this yet, is because of these points..

also, it builds up a higher trust/dedication/commitment level to the club.. and people will be more likely to pay every month, because the reward is better 1. you get to help/see finished results on different peoples cars, getting experience.. 2. you get mods done on your car... each rotation..

Yup, sorry guys I dont really see the point. Count me out.

I have been in something like this before,

It has to be managed very strictly.
If anyone enters they MUST stay the full round.
5 cars, this means 5 months at minimum so everyone gets a turn, no matter if its 25 bucks or 500 a month each person puts in the pot, its important that everyone stays!

Im if if we have some solid comitment.
