Anyone know what would be a good way to clean sandblasting crap out of an intercooler????? Or does anyone know someone I could take it to that would be able to do it. I need to get it 100% clean as I dont want any of that crap in my engine.

pull it off and wash it, use a pressure washer but dont get the wand too close

A guy at a rad shop told me the same thing.......said to run soe oil thru it afterwards a few times to...not to sure about that.

The guy at the powder coating place told me to only use air as he figured water would just mix with the crap and gum up the coller even worse.

is it dirty inside the intercooler, or just the fins? it you got dirt inside it, blow it out with compressed air. If its only stuck in the fins, use a pressure washer would be best bet ;)

Flex
Its dirty inside the intercooler.....when you look in the hole where the BOV mounts and the inlet pipe you can see the dirt.

To blow it out....would you blow through the fins????

Update: took it to a rad shop. Guy said hes pretty sure he can get it clean. Said he won't charge me if he cant so I will know monday whats up. He also knows exactly what the intercooler is so he understands it needs to be 100% clean.

Guess sometimes you just gotta let the pros do it.

I've heard that running gasoline (not OIL) through the intercooler works too

wash it out with a hose/tap and finish it off with some gas (until it runs clear)

But if you let a pro do it, hope he doesn't bend anything!

I recently cleaned both inside and outside of my intercooler on my 90 Talon, what I did was remove the ic form the car, pour some gas into one end of the ic, plugged both holes, and shook it, poured it out, it was a gunky black, repeaded this about 3 times till the gas came out clear. no water needed

As for cleaning the outside I just used an aircompressor to blow it out, there was actually alotof bugs, dust and some other stuff. you have to let it dry completly before you put it back on the car, if you want to speed up the process just hook up a shop vav on blow setting and put it on each end for 10 mins.

I actually gained 1 psi:D

Well the guy I took it to is supposed to be real good......so Im guessing that being this kinda stuff is his business he wouldnt wreck anything on it. And by the sound of his process, doesnt sound like anything he does would be harmful to it.

Hmmmmm....gas....never thought of that. Well the guy I took it to says hes got the proper chemicals for doing it....so only time will tell

gas is asgood if not better then anything else with no effects.
