Tire recommendations - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hey guys,
Just wanting to know if some of you have tried any of these tires and what your opinions are.  I'm currently on 205-55-16 stock tires w/ my Impreza...i'm going to 205-50-16.
Here are the brands:
Toyo proxes T1-S
Bridgestone RE730
Bridgestone S-02 or S-03s (pricey, really pricey)

I'm using these for AutoX and the occasional Track Days.

Of the 3 I've heard that the T1-s are the best grip for street.  The sidewalls are somewhat softer though, so transient response is not the best - especailly for autocross.

Have you looked into the Azenis?  I hear that is by far the best value for dollar - better grip than the T1-s. Super stiff sidewall. A littel heavier but the grip overly compensates that flaw.

I've heard of them, but i don't know WHERE in Cad we can get them.  They are sold across the border from what i hear.

I have nothing bad to say about my T1-S tires. Very very good traction. I would probably rip the tires off the wheels before I start skidding on heavy cornering.

They also have a pretty good useful life.

But I never tried Bridgestone or the Azenis mentioned above, so I can't really compare.

i did a lil bit of research on the T1-S'
from wat i read....very quiet, while very sticky

i'm lookin into tires as well...but i'm gonna run down my current ones first <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://asianet.ca/images/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

I'm running Toyo T1-Ss right now. Awesome tire.

I really like the Michelin Pilot Sports as well.

Pick up this month's SCC.. it has a whole article on Ultra/High Performance tires.

I dont think you can get Azenis in town.  The closest is mailorder through www.tiretrends.com and there is another place in Ottawa, but I can't think of thier name.

The next step is R-compund, but depending on the size you are looking for, that might make the decision that much easier.
