I put a replacement OEM clutch in my 240 last fall and I noticed today trying to race a talon, that upon switching into second my clutch slipped quite a bit and then hooked up... I dont seem to remember my old clutch slipping this much when it was still good... how quick do 240's go through clutches on average? I dont rag on my car and unless im racing I dont shift hard so I dont see how it could already have gone through the clutch... anyone ever had a similar problem?

With a stock KA I found my clutch did well. It could be your driving style. With my SR I expect more frequent clutch changes. I also don't use stock clutches.

Same with me. But I don't know about your clutch situation. Could be numerous things. MC and Slave all good still? Fluid up all the way? Cause that could cause the clutch to not engage fully.
Also, just to be safe, and for future reference, try not to speak of street racing on this particular forum. I tend not to care, but we are not on the NECC yet. Soon though, very soon.

Could your tires have been spinning? I still can't floor second gear even with this nice weather. My guess would be spinning tires.

thanks for the replies guys, and sorry burg I'll keep any racing related info out of my posts from now on. I dont think it was the tires spinning at any rate, because it was on very dry pavement and Ive had a clutch wear out on me before so im familiar with what a slipping clutch feels like . And LOL @ typhoon, I am well aware that I cant beat turbo talons (yet mwahahah), but hey if I was afraid of every car that was faster than me I wouldnt be much better than your typical rice boy =P
I still get giddy when I see a fast car and still tempt them sometimes just to see them go =D |

sounds like you kike to keep your foot on the clutch pedal after shifting. This will cause a certain level of glazing to happen on any clutch. Not sure what to recomend as a fix other than use your dead pedal.
