| Im also ditching the Res because for $80, it isnt worth it, especially since I dont even know how loud this setup will be |

| So its gonna sound like a fart can...... eh? |

| Uhh far from it. If anything, going without the Res will make it sound like a V8. Trouble is, I dont want a loud exhaust, only one that is slightly louder than stock, I dont want to be waking up the neighbors. But this exhaust with the CAI should give a nice, deep rumble to it, which will sound great at low rpms and amazing at high rpms. More or less, the Res will cut down the sound in the car, not so much on the outside. |

Why cheap out on a resonator, even it it only does help reduce sound a bit?

| Well I guess the question to ask is.. where should I get it dynod at? and how much will it cost? As for your question splinz. Ive really been unsure about the who res thing. Originally I had intended to keep the stock res. Then, I had intended to buy something like a magnaflow 14" round for a res. But the more I though of it, the more I just wnted to see what it sounds like without the res. Borla is known for having very quiet mufflers and that will help out many of the sound problems that could occur. But this weekend im taking the tips back, they are just too big for my tastes. The have a 2.5" inlet and dual 3.5" outlets and while it looks kinda cool, they seem to big for what I had originally had in mind. |

It will sound like ass. When I put dual Borla's on my 3.4 DOHC Cutlass Supreme it sounded quiet and AWESOME at high RPM (3500+). But at part throttle and low RPM it sounded like shit. Real raspy, not nice at all. Granted, your pushrod engine will sound somewhat different, I don't imagine it will be far off.
A resonator gets rid of that real quick.
Most of the ricey sounding 4 cyls. you hear have no resonator. The ones that sound nice and deep 99% of the time run a big ass resonator.
Here's a pic of that car too.

And you thought I was a domestic hater!:blue: |

ahh the 3.4L cutlass supremes.. nice. I wish I could afford some of the nice DOHC 3.4's but that isnt likely going to happen. Alright.. well that means im gonna have to get some more cash, I dont get paid till the end of next week. Damn, this is going to take a few months to get enough cash to pay for everything. SO the list is now:
-magnaflow 14" round
-take back the tips and find some smaller outlet ones
-dyno my baby. |

ive found that article very informative..
Weird thing: Im having problems finding exhaust tips for my car that are "stock looking" just larger. Its currently a trumpet style 2" inlet -> 2.5" outlet (x4).. I am leaning towards pace setter, or hedman glassed tips.. A friend of mine has the pacesetters on his probe gt, and sounds incredable

| Well this doesnt have anything to do with this topic, and most likely ill get flammed for it, but I just wanted to say that my underbodies are finally working again. What a bitch of an install with the damn fuel lines and trying not to expose the tube too much. Flame away |
