Congratulations to all competitors from Battle of the Imports. We gave out over $3,300. in prize money, gift certificates, and trophies to our winners and runner up competitors.
Sorry for the late start on July 14th event. With so many classes for our tech team to classify it takes a lot of time vs. the Friday night Street Legal races where there are no classes. We are already working on an action plan that will help speed the next show along. All competitors would have got an additional qualifying run in but we had some poor weather at the for the first couple of hours which put us behind.
Mark Seto had passed on to me that some of the potential competitors didn't want to come out due to the $50. entry fee. Please keep in mind when you race at the Street Legals on Friday night for $20. There isn't any prize money, gift certificates or beautiful trophies.
Maybe some of potential competitors would like to compete in a all run bracket class where we just had a trophies for the winner and runner up. Please e-mail me if you would like to participate in a trophy only class for the winner and runner up with a $30. entry fee.
Or would you rather pay $20. more and have the opportunity of taking home a piece of the $3,300 plus?
We gave out over $3,300. in prize money, gift certificates, and trophies. Please note: It is our intention to increase the payouts and prizing at our Aug. 25 event.
BONUS DOOR PRIZES: We also want to have door prizing and give aways for all competitors at our Aug.25th event during the trophy and awards presentation. So even if you were not the winner or runner up in a class you could still end up going home with some valuable prizes.
Please e-mail myself ( Jim Bell):dpnjb@telusplanet.net
your input re Yes, you like our existing program and would like to race for some serious prize $$ and gift Certificates and Big Trophies. Or,no I would prefer to pay only $30 and race for a couple of trophies.
We are sincerely interested in having our Battle of the Imports races appeal to as many competitors as possible. What you think is very important to us.
How about our Air Show entertainment program!!! The Snow Birds were awesome and how about the F-18. Some of the jets came in so low you almost felt like you could jump up and touch them. Unfortunately, we won't have an air show at our next event but we promises it will be a awesome event with lots happening. See you there!!
Our next event is scheduled for Aug.25 Sunday.
Don't miss it!!! Bigger, Better, Faster.

Air show entertainment? He makes it sounds like he brought the air show there!
The next import challenge should be better. |

Last years August Battle was better, mainly due to this one starting so late. I don't mind checking out the other cars and stuff, but standing around for close to 5 hours before the qualifying started just wasn't fun.
Also last year might have been better since I came in first in the ProStreet class. <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://asianet.ca/images/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo--> At least my car was in the 15's last summer unlike these guys... (17's?? WTF?) <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://asianet.ca/images/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo--> |

I thought Eric Yapp was faster than that?...
I know Jason would've made mid 13's easily.
Yeah, yeah, blah, blah, $50 blah, blah, but some people don't want to pay that much to get eliminated in the second round due to some unusual tech classifications...
The last Import battle was bizzare to say the least. I saw people who were in classes that should've been in others... But that's just my opinion. |

One of the 17 second cars was was that green rabit convertable. _There were lots of slow cars in the ProStreet Import class this year. _There was a civic, focus, old prelude, accent, and probably a few more all running in the 17's.
Unfortunately I broke out on my first elimination run. _I was running 16.2's (which is slow for my car) in qualifying so I dialed in a 16.1 and I ended up running a 15.9. _Better luck next time I guess... |
