| I live in a basement suite of an old house, and my neighbors have the loudest sex...damn...almost every day for several hours. At first it was funny, you know, to tell the story, but when it keeps you up late hours of the night....geeeez.. PLUS...what if my parents stay over? oh...the shame. Stupid people have said "Try to outcompete them!" Yeah...that's really going to solve the problem. What do you think I should do? |

Well, when I was living in an apartment, one night I heard noises and I thought it was a rat or some rodent in the wall. I gave a big punch on the wall to scare it... You could either:
1- Wait until they are done and play the nastiest metal music or rap you can find loudly
2- Bang on the ceiling
3- During the day when they are home, ring the door bell and politely discuss your problems with them.
4- During the day when they are home, ring the door bell and rudely bash their faces in.
5- Find the male counterpart and give him a thundering box kick to the 'nads
6- If that doesn't solve the problems, call the cops.
Seriously, you should only be considering 2, 3, or 6.
I've found that option 3 will let you determine where you stand and what course of action to take.
You'd be surprised what a little bit of polite talking can do. Just don't go alone, go with a friend and have some backup handy like a small group of friends in your suite and instruct them if they don't hear from you in a half an hour... Crash the upstairs suite.
Since you're going to seem like the polite neighbor, they might be nuts and you don't want to take the chance.
If they are polite aswell, then hopefully things can get resolved. If they are rude, the next step is to either discuss it with the Building Manager or the Police and take legal action of sorts.
If this still doesn't work, start shopping for a new location. Options 1, 4, and 5 seldom see results, sometimes option 2 works.
