hahaha you think you are in the ghetto? im running a p3 550mhz notebook with 256 ram...and basically crap for a video card. i cant even watch dvd's and chat.

how is the ibook holding up? i want to get a mac but im nto sure if i should get an iBook or a powerbook...

REFLUX
I think we still got a P1 33mhz lying around somewhere...
with a blazing 32mb of ram!!!

Only reason I could justify buying a PowerBook over an iBook is if you're doing some graphics designing
You can max out a 14" iBook for approx the same price as a base line PowerBook

SplineZ

XP Pro
AthlonXP 1800+
768megs DDR400
Soyo Kt333 Dragon Ultra Platinum
40gig RAID-0 Array, boot and apps
20gig "extra" drive

Redhat 9 (ugh, i was rushed)
Duron 1ghz
512megs PC133
MSI K7Turbo2
120gigs storage
16meg Voodoo3 [for xwin]

and the iBook i use more than my father ;)

14" G3 733mhz
OS 10.2.8
128megs of ram (ghetto)
20gig drive
cdrw/dvdrom
wifi-b

I have many others which i use around the house on a regular basis :D the top2 are the ones i use thes most tho.

powerful enough for what?

if you got the money go for a powerbook
but if you're just doing basic stuff on it (surf, excel/word, watch movies, etc) an iBook is plenty and it'll serve your dollar much better than to spend the money on something you wont use (the superduper graphics card & associated hardware)

i wont buy anymore of IBM's consumer drives.. specially with that 333hrs/month warrenty hassle crap they brought in after that shitty batch of drives....

if you want a large fast drive.. get a WD.. their SATA stuff comes with a 5 year warrenty.. (so does seagate)

lol your specs are nearly exactly the same as my PC. What vid card are you using? I have a radeon 9600 pro (499/324)

Z3r03rr0r
Geforce 4 mx440 with 128 Mb ddr333
the work machine has changed though
now it is a p4 2.8ghz machine

Wheelhop
P4 2.53 O/C to 2.9
PC3200 OCZ 512mb Dual Channel kit O/C to 450
Turbo Gamer case w/window 450w/ps
Sapphire 9800pro 128mb
4 channel 150 watt speakers with sub
WinXP
40GB HD(next mod on my list, RAID)

PraxRX7
This ones kinda slow for my tastes, but its all I've got.

Pentium 4 1.4 GHz
512 MB RAM
160 GB of HDD space
GeForce 4 Ti4600 128 MB
Sound outputs to a 250W stereo system.

Motherboard only supports 4x AGP, so the video card is a little overkill, but it gets the job done.

Looking at purchasing by december:

AlienWare Area51
P4 3.2 GHz XT
ATI Radion 9800 XT 256 MB
2 GB RAM
Sound Blaster w/ 7.1 audio, w/ creative GigaWorks 7.1 surround system.
and a 22" monitor

I could build the same computer up for about $1,500 less, but alienware is sweet.
