V8less Drags Postponed - Click HERE for Original Thread

Markis
Sorry guys but we didnt get to race or award our show and shine.

There hasn't been many cancellations at Budpark but unfortunately things didn't work out as we planned. We only have had about 30 V8's show up, and almostr 100 imports.

I have commend the effort of the Kimberly, Darren and the Budpark track crew for giving their best efforts in drying the track, only to have it rain again.

Thanks also goes to the Jbody club who squeegeed the entire quarter mile when we had a our brief period of sunshine.

And again to the volunteers who helped load and unlead so much crap only to lose money in our fundraiser.

Darcy Ryan was spinning tunes for about 1 hour before there was no point.

Matrix, EZ motorsports and StreetGear Imports donated some great prizes which we'll hold on to award in future event.

The big hurt goes out to the CSpeed crew and the rest of the Pac West boys to drove 13 hours to race, then was told it wasn't safe to run. This wasn't a minivan built for the highway. This was a race bred Integra capable of 12's.

Another hurt goes out to Zippy's and Prodrag. 2 years of work and almost 72 hours of no sleep the last 3 days only to have the car debut on a rained out day.

The saving grace is that we still have V8less Day drags on Sept 8th at Budpark. Sorry to all those who were looking forward to it. I know you all spent time polishing, prepping and tuning your cars for this event. I'm certain many of you made great sacrifices to being at Budpark that I can only imagine..

Based on the turn out even with the weather, it would have been an amazing night.

Crappy luck mark. I was going to head out but then i heard that it was cancelled, sorry to hear about all those VanCity guys who showed up...hmm...maybe they'll come out to the autoX on Sunday.

It was definitely a bonus to see a good turnout even on weather like this. It's really too bad everyone didn't get to race, as that is what this event is all about. I'm sure with this support the Edmonton import scene will just get better and better.

ManHunter
Hey Mark, you can't apologize for the weather. Everything was planned nicely and it would have been a great success. But nature wasn't on our side. Nothing nobody can do about it.

We'll just have more fun and a bigger crowd next time.

You all did the best you could with what you had. No one can control the weather (unfortunately) but hopefully the next event will have good weather and be even better.

Just a suggestion but has anyne told Bud Park they should pave that parking lot and road?

Thanks for the comments guys. I don't mean to sound apologetic, its just the nature of myself. I'm just trying to rationalize the efforts of everyone when the show doesn't go.

In hindsight, we've had perfect weather at our previous events so it was bound to happen.

Clem, that Suggestion has been made several times, but Budpark doesn't have the budget. The facilities have improved drastically since it became Budpark though.

Yes, it was a great turn out, even in those horrid conditions, but I have a feeling there would have been more had the city conditions not been so terrible...

I almost did not make it as I was fearing for myself and other drivers blinded by the torrential downpour. It was extremely difficult to see anything.

I felt like a heel when I called you Mark and said I wouldn't make it, so I toughed out the weather to make it out. I risked my investment just to be there man

Clem, it was cool meeting you and your friends, awesome rides guys (see, I told you that article was almost like your car&#33

I was glad see see the same group of V8less members from Soda Jerks the previous Thursday. Nice to see we have such a dedicated bunch of hardcore car freaks

No way! Bud has to keep the gravel staging and parking area....we're gonna hold a RallyX there sometime.

Sorry to hear about the bad news. I was planning to attend but am out of town in Toronto and Montreal. I'm not sure how Budweiser Racepark works, are you able to reschedule the event?

Wouldn't mind seeing what's out there, I need some encouragement and that little push to get me to finally spend some $$$ on my Civic.

masterv
too bad about the weather...i was surprised to see how many ppl came out...and yet still in good spirits even though it was raining...

We showed up at around 10 and they told us it was over. Too bad, there must have been at least 20 cars waiting to get in at that time.

Hey Mark.

2 of us from the RSX club, DC5AB made it down about 10 then we saw all the cars leaving. We were a little bummed out. But again, you can't do anything about the weather. This is Edmonton weather which changes on us really fast. If something comes up give us a shot and I'll see what I can do with our club. I'll try to talk to guys about coming down for September 8. It was nice meeting you at Soda Jerk on Thursday.

darkman
Sorry to hear the bad new man. Pat took his anger on me at Fast Track so it's all good. haha! Damn! Those guys all kicked my ass good that day.
