Do gold plated batery terminal do anything other then look good?? Got a set of Phonix Gold today @ International (@ cost)and they look dam good, but I wonder do they do anything else??:D

REFLUX
better conductivity of electricity

Well said reflux. Besides that and the bling bling aspect, absolutly nothing.

Conductivity is everything though? Why do you need any more reason?:dunno:

foooools, actually silver or copper are better conductors than gold. the reason gold is good shit is cuz it doesnt oxidize and cuz it looks nice.

For the minute amount of distance the current is travelling through the terminal it doesn't much matter whether it's copper, silver or gold.

probetunerforlife
sure it matters if you look at it or use a computer to tell you which one is better but other than that there is nothing much other than the bling bling . i like them because they make it easyer to get wires in them.

Platinum, baby. Platinum.

cmon guys read. i already said that its not the conductivity, its the corrosion resistance.

Platinum and Gold Alloys
This group of materials is the most noble and resist film formations in most atmospheres. Because of this attribute, these materials find wide use in the low-current, high reliability applications. Because of their relatively low conductivity (compared to silver), they are limited to low current applications. The cost of these material is high, but the physical size is normally quite small.

Silver and Silver Alloys
This group of materials exhibits the highest conductivity, both electrical and thermal. There is an overlapping between this group and the Platinum Gold group in current range. Being better conductors, this group is capable of carrying higher currents. The main advantages here are relatively low cost materials capable of handling most light and medium current applications.

Soo.. gold if its open to the air.. It will not corrode.. Silver if its "sealed"

well the gold plated one only $15 for one @ international right now :p where regular it is $25-35.

I got a pair of those Bling Blings for my battery on my Turbo RX-7  (BTW the thin layer of gold plating comes off real easy, don't use any abrasives to wash em, avoid cleaning chemicals).
