More cylinders = better sound
In a general aesthetic way.

Yeah, those god damn idiots! 600 horsepower naturally aspirated, what were they thinking. Should have used a V-twin, then it would be a real car  |

If your going to bash "american crap" you might as well get your facts straight
its a DOHC V-10, no pushrods. Ford hasnt used pushrods in its high output engines for a few years. they are all SOHC or DOHC engines. So there is no pushrods ANYWHERE In this engine.
Its 390cu, 11.8/1 c/r, 605HP, 501ft/tq, 95HP/L engine that will rev to 7500rpm. What is there not to like about this? and this is NATURALLY ASPERATED horse power, not force fed. Last I checked your SR20DET pushed about 215HP on a good day.. From 2L giving it about 107.5HP/L... being force fed. WOW YOU SURE SHOWED FORD WITH YOUR HIGH HP/LITRE.. Ford doesnt need to push 1000HP out of their engine.. why? cuz its not even stressin to put out 605HP, imagine what a lil messaging would do to this thing.
Another thing.. Fart piping harley? I think YOU are confused. Im not a fan of straight exhausts on harleys (or harleys for that matter), but they are the FARTHEST thing from fart pipes.
.. So if your gunna bash american shit, atleast know what your talking about.

Sublte differences, but essentially the same cool look.

Ya fuck who wants instant low rpm killer power anyways.
I would rather sit there for 2 hours trying to spool a big HKS turbo.
Big DIS is where its at and rice burners are on the way out! |

haha.......okay anyways......
id like to see it against the blitz r34.......heheh
 |

| 98 teg |
| id put my money on the cobra, even the orignal 427 in the 60s would kill alot of the newer cars today, plus the blitz r34 has aftermarket goodies under the hood, put the r34 and the cobra up and the cobra will walk all over the skyline both cars being stock. |

The problem there being that the Skyline is limited to a certain horsepower. Now if they are able to run the stock 2.6L to its full stock potential it wouldn't even be close.

You think maxin the boost on that RB26DETT (stock turbos) you'd be able to catch a good old Shelby Cobra 427? I think those cars were tuned for somehwere around 500HP, in a car that weighs about 2200lbs. Which would be a good low 12sec pass..
Whats a RB26DETT good for on stock turbos?
James Z |
|
|
| ChromeDragon |
| Well the R32 runs 12.80 at stock boost, I don't think it would take too much more for it to bump that into the 11's. |
|
|
| SplineZ |
1989 Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 run the 1/4 in 13.9sec (supercars.net) I dont have 100% confidence in the source, but stock.. thats not even close to 12.8.. Where are you gettin those times?

Stock for stock, yeah , I don't think the Roadster can be beat in a straight line...
But the Cobra really can't be considered stock.
Shelby was a special man with a crazy idea.
Something in the same class would be the 400R Skyline or the NUR Edition Skyline.
The old Cobra could nowhere near be called a good handler. Perhaps if you had someone there whose job was to tell you if you were using too much throttle at any given time.
In the twisties I'd bet on the Skyline.
For the new Roadster, I'll wait to see what the journalists say about it, but unless they have spent ALOT of time tuning the suspension, it's mostly a smoke machine.
Unless they have some magic rubber of holding, it's nearly impossible to keep that power to the ground. |

As far as I know the cobra was considdered a "Production" vehicle or it wouldnt have been allowed to race..
ahah, well, you could have megawide tires, and gumballs *shrug*

Man that the only way to launch a GTR.:D And regarding this whole Skyline VS Cobra and which one is the faster......... the only way i would believe that one is faster than the other is to actually see them side by side at a track, and with 2 competant drivers race. Because looking at the specs for both cars i think it would be a very tight race. |

Oh no, I'm not saying it wasn't a production car, to be classified as a production car you must produce what... 1500 or 15,000 or something like that... I can't remember which it was.
I'm saying Carroll Shelby had the idea of stuffing a big block into an English style open top roadster and have a regular production of it. Very few car nuts are successful when it comes to making their dream cars successful. Shelby was one of them.
That's why I have trouble considering it a "stock" car :)
Nis240... as far as I know, I think there is one guy in town with a 427, don't know anyone with a GTR...yet... |

ya know thast the only page ive ever seen a "stock" R32 do 12.8.. every other page ive seen does 13.8..including magazines. All the 1/4mile calcs ive tried (i just wanted an approx) said they car would have to be making ~330HP and weight in at 3600lbs, or make 280HP and weigh closer to 2900lbs.. *shrug*
it doesnt matter. I would take either.. :)

| after 3 fast 2 furious, think it was motor trend tested the skyline it ran like 14 through the 1/4, so it would be sweet to see both cars on the track under controlled conditions, the syline is a heavier car though |

The factory specs says that its got 279 HP but appperently its closer to 320 HP, and its is a pig it weighs around 3500 LBS (Its a big as a Subaru Legacy sedan) but i still love the R32 GTR. |

Andy there are actually several 427 powered Cobras in town. I know that at least 1 is real, plus a few more kit cars on top of that. At Powerama 2 years ago there was a Cobra that was 1 of 4 hand built by Carrol Shelby himself. The car is worth in excess of $4million US. The crazy thing is that I saw this car on the street, flying down Hwy. 2 at about 190km/h. Now that's brave!

| highly doughtful that the one cobra is real their were only 90 427 cobras ever made, allmost others had the smaller v8, as for the skyline beating the new cobra down the straight line highly unlikeyl 500 horses and 2200 pounds vs 330 horses and 3400 pounds |

There is a few real Cobras in Canada. I don't know about the one in question, although I don't think anyone would lie about having a real Cobra because it would be pretty easy to find out the truth. |

I couldn't tell you if this Cobra was in town anymore, ever since Soda Jerks shut down I very rarely see old cars meeting up. But this one did have the signed Shelby dash and the plaque stating it's production numbers/status.
I wonder if there are any places other than Fort Rd. and 137ave that the rods meet up at. I took the Buick down there a couple times, but it just doesn't have the same feel as Soda Jerks, or the turnout.
