Hey guys, just had my birthday on Saturday and my grandparents were very generous on my 18th and they bought me a notebook. Check out the specs, the biggest thing I was worried about was the video card... I installed games like D2 and CS, seemed to run fine.

Here

For some reason when I run a game it doesnt take the whole screen. I.E. There is a black frame around the game, so its not like its just a window.

Any ideas on how to correct this?

that vid card is fine for less intnesive games like diablo2, it won't cut it if you are trying to play higher end new games like ut2k4. they will run but chnaces are they will chug badly. if you are big into gaming you can't beat a full fledged pc but if you need the mobility and would prefer a laptop toshibas are great machines.
If you want to play games on a laptop the mseries from toshiba can do a great job but you are going to need to cough up a little more coin around 400 dollars more.
with your screen size problem is this happening with all games or just a couple? you may want to look into the drivers that are being used there may be a newer one that may work better check for your windows updates and see what comes up there.

Screen Issue:

Alot of laptop displays are only good for a certain resolution or above. So if its rated for 1024 or above, it will increase its size, to accomadate the extra resolution, but if its less than that it will just display 800x600, or 640x480 in the center of the screen. If they try and blow up a low resolution image, the picture will get blurry and you will loose the crispness of the LCD panel.

I dont know if that made any sense :) I havent had a laptop that does that in a while.. My father ibook is good for all the resolutions it supports without doing that.. I hadda fix a think pad once back in win98, and DOS was in a tiny fuckin window in the center :)

I forgot about that issue, I believe any laptop that comes out lately is being released with and xvga/sxga type screens that was supposed to eliminate that problem.
