goddamnit. i just bought a puppy, and i haven't had a quiet night of rest yet...the thing just does NOT shut up when he's left alone. AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Casanova
I want to tape his mouth shut

Insomniac
puppy + balcony + blanket = good sleep

BlueTurboEGG
Aw, you have a puppy :)

You think that is bad, wait for it.... Just wait until you have kids...

For the first little while, you should keep close to the puppy until it doesn't fear being alone anymore.

Locking it up in the basement won't do anything ;)

Scintillater
that is one fucking scary picture. (the clown)

but then if i'm alrways around him, then he'll just get used to it. so i'm trying to leave him alone for periods at a time.

AUGHHHHHHHHHHH

I believe there's an operation you can get to remove a dog's vocal chords. Whenever they bark they just make a faint squeeking sound. Frankly, I don't believe that this the right thing to do but in certain neurotic dogs (ie poodles) this is the only way to have peace.

More than likely, when he gets a little older he'll start feeling more independent and will be more comfortable with being alone. Right now he's probably used to having other puppies around him and to be within range of his mother at all times.

MightyMidget
he is still a puppy...give him time.....how old BTW??

S

Scintillater
yeah...he's only 11 weeks. so i gotta give it time. what a BIG SUCKER THOUGH! hahaah. if i'm on the other side of the barricade...like a foot away from him, and he can see me, he'll freeeeak out. if i'm just at the barricade he still does.
is i'm JUST inside of it, he's fine. AUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

My old neighbour did that to his dog, and it was the most inhumane thing ever. The dog barked all the time(or tried to anyway) and it sounded horrible. Like honking your horn when your battery is dying.

REFLUX
if you haven't gotten yourself some good books or info about how to raise a puppy, might I suggest that it be a good idea :)

it makes me sad to see owners get frustrated at their dogs when they haven't properly trained them....:(

Scintillater
i know what i gotta do...it just takes time and it IS frustrating. .i had a puppy long time ago, but it was so long ago i can't remember if it was this difficult ahahaha.

he's a defiant little shit.

REFLUX
what breed is your pup again?

BlueTurboEGG
When he gets alittle older the dog won't mind being alone so much.

Just for now be around it. It's just too young to understand right now.

Uh...Can I come over to play sometime?

exactly..............but the fun is only beginning.....wait til the trips down the hall to go to the washroom.....and crap......
another warm puddle on the floor.........:D

ChromeDragon
All it takes is a swift kick in the ass and he'll shut up pretty quick! LoL j/k, I'd never hurt an animal......except maybe a goat, always looking at my funny, I just wanna kill 'em!!!

It seems that my dog is reverting back to puppy status and over the past 3 months or so has started to make messes on the floor. Obviously it's too late to retrain him since he's 13 but I think this may all be traced back to him staying one day in a kennel back in December. I have no idea what happened that day but if I found out they hurt my dog in any way I would beat them mercilessly! Right now we are just trying him on some arthritis meds and he has had a few teeth pulled.

Chromey

P.S. Sorry about the hijack, like everyone has been saying, just spend time with him and when it comes time for him to sleep have him stay in one spot every night. Over time he will come to accept this.

Miss Nikki Sixx
You cannot leave a puppy that young alone. I remember our dog, when he was that young. We would leave him alone in a room for no more than 10 minutes and he'd start yelping non stop.

Give the puppy a warm water bottle wrapped in a blanket, and that would remind him of his mother's warmth, maybe that may relax him.

Scintillater
warm water bottle??!
how about i just give it a swift kick to the head??!!

Just kidding ahahah.

Terry: he's a pomeranian. THe ultimate debutant purse dog. HAHAHA

Andy: sure. whenever. just give me a holler.

^^^^ Those dogs are the cutest little fuckers you can get.:D

REDX2NV
Hmm, what we did with our puppy is setup a little bed on top of the dryer due to the warmth it imatates the mothers heat.

SplineZ
it does not get better.. dogs are hopeless :)

my GOD he surprised me today. I had him in a separate room, and when he was quiet, i praised him, and he shut up for the rest of the night. just played by himself. PRAIIIISE THE LORDDDD

Scintillater
SO GUESS WHAT? now that he's a wonderful little dog, i have to sell him, because my bf's son is developing allergies to him :(

*sigh*

Anyone want a cute sweet little puppy dog? To good home only I bought him for $800, and I'd like to take no more of a hit that $600. He's registered, just a beautiful dog, paper trained, and 12 weeks old.

ChromeDragon
Awww that's terrible Yunn. If you're at all interested in getting another puppy, Lhasa Apsos are usually good for people with allergies. I'm allergic to dog and cat hair and we've had our little Lhasa Apso for 13 years now, never had a reaction.

Keep the dog, get rid of the kid.

Scintillater

BlueTurboEGG
Boo, I never got the chance to come over and see the cute doggy :(
