I ordered a pair of Metzeler M-1's... mainly because they were a decent deal and my front tire is shit, and it is totally shot....
I was wondering, would it be okay to match my new metzeler front w/ my dunlop 208 rear (only 3000kms on rear)?
TIA! |

| I have done that in the past lots of times with no problems. (as long as you stick with 2 sport tires and not go one cruiser tire and one sport tire) The only thing you have to worry about is the size. If you change the size of the rear then you need to change the size of the front as well to compensate so you don't throw your handling out of wack. |

| flex: that makes no sense. front and rear tire sizes are different anyway.... my bike runs a 190 on the rear and i think a 120 on the front. but i could run a 180 rear and 120 front no problem. i don't understand your reasoning. |

I think what Flex is trying to get at is balance and if the tires are rated the same.
Of course, pigs might fly from my ass too :) |

Sorry...I guess I wasnt very clear on my statement. What I was trying to say was the bike comes with a certain size on the front and a certain size on the back. They are different sizes yes but they are matched to each other for optimum handling.
What I was meaning was if the stock tire on the back was a 170 say.....if you go slap a 200 on the back and leave the front size as is your handling will be thrown all out of wack. You can change size of the back tire by about 10 with out changinge the front size but I wouldn't go any more then that.
Does that make sense now? |

| yeah taht makes more sense. but front tire sizes really don't change much. i don't think i've ever seen anything other than 120s on the fronts. on newer sport bikes anwyay. |

Ya thats right....usually 120's on the front on newer bikes. And on the rear with with that front are 180 or 190's.
I know alot of guys move down from a 190 to a 180 in the rear as they say the narrower tire handles better. |
