The 2004 Cochrane Rally of the Ranchlands takes place this weekend (Mar 20-21), out of Cochrane AB (40 minutes northwest of Calgary).

18 teams are currently registered (including yours truly) to tackle this first event of the 2004 Western Canadian Rally Championship.

It's free for spectators to come out and watch. For more information, directions to spectator areas, and itinerary, check out the rally's homepage: http://www.bishop.ab.ca/CSCC/winter.htm

If you come out, drop by and say "Hi!"

Well, the weekend didn't go as well as planned.

We came down a long icy hill, got sideways going onto a bridge, slammed the passenger side (MY side!) into the bridge railing, rode the railing to the end of the bridge, where the car came down on the edge of the embankment, snapped the steering rack like a toothpick, and went down the embankment to the edge of the creek.

One steering rack, 3 brand new Hakka 2's, 3 rims, front fender, bumper and front fascia later, and we'll be back for the next one in May, the National Rocky Mountain Rally!!

Somebody was there with a digital video camera, so I will let you know when and where you can see our near instantaneous exit from the rally.

No physical injuries by the way. We're both okay.

That sucks to hear Dave, glad that you're ok though.

I'll be sure to make the trip out to at least one rally this year, it's looking to be a stupidly busy summer!

WookeysRX7

rexxrally
No, although the Red RX7 did tag the same bridge with his back right corner.......

I was in the brown Mercury Bobcat (now the "brown and slightly orange on the right side" Bobcat) :p

Transporter

How was the Lim/Bistritz NX2000? Those are my boys!!!

Heard they kicked ass... for such meager equipment and experience.

Aaron's REALLY picked up his game. I think he's got the driving technique figured out. He looked good, when I was sitting there on the embankment, watching him drive by my car down by the creek....... :p
