which motor for del sol - Click HERE for Original Thread

sideways slut
first off, this is my girlfriends car, shes not going for all out power but her car just feels slow as shit compaired to mine. ive been lookin around on honda sites for info and now im just wondering, what are my options?? b16a is about 170hp(gen2), but what if i just get a usdm motor from a different honda. theres lots of hondas at wreaking yard around town, im sure some of them are pushin to 160hp range. can anyone tell me what would fit.

i guess the main reason for this is price, b-series motors arent that pricy but usdm has to be less.

all info is welcome

oh and her car is a 93 del sol 1.6 sohc non-vtec

thanx, jay

the b16 is pretty good. or the b18 non-vtec is also not bad, if u/she is just looking for a little more power and cheap price.

i know the b16 would be good, but im mostly wondering about usdm motor swaps, from a prelude or a newer civic or even an integra(if it fits)..... what would work?

silverTEG
b16

Neo-Blue99GASE
it should, but if I were you, id rebuild the engine just in case. I know its a pain but last time my girl has a hell of a time in her car because the moron before he did an engine swap and it now runs like shit.

A B18B would be a good swap if your looking for a cheap B series. Its not v-tec but its still decent, plus there are those engine mount kits for B series. An even easier swap would be a D16z6, which is pretty much a v-tec version of the one thats in your gf's del sol. Don't bother with a prelude's engine, I heard that it's WAY too much trouble to swapa H22 into civics/del sols.

REFLUX
b18, cuz I think she would like the low end grunt a bit more than what a b16 can provide

DowntownFocus
Del sol is a heavy little car go with the B18 more torque it will get you going alot quicker and cheeper.

98 teg
b18b set up will work quite nice and theire is aftermarket parts as well

ok, so a b18a is out of a 90-93 integra ls, are these jdm or usdm? if usdm, how common are they?

Hey J, u sure it's not more UR wanting to swap the engine then ur gf's? I don't think a regular swap will even come half way to what ur car is putting out now.

b18a1 swaps should be under 1000.. i picked up a longblock with under 100,000 for under 600 bucks with papers
